MPPK Cost?
So my car is at the dealer (San Jose area) for a check engine light and I mentioned to the service adviser that I would like a quote for the MPPK. He sent me an email and quoted me: $1,675 for parts and another $1,125 for labor. This seems ridiculous, especially since www.shopbmwusa.com has the price at $1100 installed at this dealer. Has anyone had any luck ordering from the website and having the dealer install it at the recommended cost? If so what (local to me) dealer?
I'm letting the dealer respond to the price difference before I get too pissed off, but I suspect they are charging a huge markup. TIA. |

MSRP when I ordered my 435, 3 weeks ago showed up at $1730. I got it for $1370 Port installed. All you really need the dealer to do is the software install, the rest you can do yourself in about 30 minutes. Should be $200 tops to do the software ugrade.

I paid $199 for the labor. I would have probably been charged an extra $50 had it not been for the fact I bought the kit at the same dealer for $1270. About $100 more than port install. Not bad.

Any recommendations for NorCal dealers to do the install? Monterey BMW had a good deal on parts but labor doubled the price.
Located in the Walnut Creek, so Concord and East Bay BMW are nearby.

Try contacting Joe(Joseph) McGuigan at BMWSF.
When I was trying to get my M Perf brakes installed, he gave me the best rate out of all dealers and even beat all indies, all but one and that was by 25 bucks. Tell him Chris P sent you and he'll try to get you a good price. Full disclosure: I don't get anything from transactions you may or may not do. |

If this is for your 2013, may I ask why you don't get a Bootmod3 or MHD flash?
The MPPK is a very small bump in power especially on a PWG car. You also don't have any warranty left (unless it's a bit of CPO left). Stage 1 tunes are super conservative and the N55 is a pretty reliable motor, you're not going to do any damage. You also only have to pay $600 or so and easily do the install yourself. Let's be honest, the MPPK doesn't actually need any hardware. The only reason they include an intake is to pretend that BMW didn't just leave power on the table to charge people more for it later. The only thing you might need is a charge pipe which is about $300-$400 installed or a pretty easy DIY. |

Sorry to jack the thread. Just read and I've been looking for a good price to install M performance brakes. Do you mind sharing how much you spend for the install? |

Yeah of course. BMWSF quoted me ~900. I contacted a few other shops, including phaedrus bmw. Phaedrus BMW said they couldn't/wouldn't do the job. And a couple other places did not even get back to me. One place quoted me 1050, and another ~900 as well. The One Auto quoted 770, but without the coding. So if you don't have the ability to code it yourself, I'd personally just get it done at a dealership. I did this because I didn't have the Enet cable and Esys set up, but even if I did I probably would have gone there, since for 130, you not only get sort of peace of mind (I still haven't found an indie shop that I feel super comfortable with), as well as that sweet loaner car that most places would not have. My car was in the shop for 3~4 days. Other BMW dealers quoted over 1200. |
