Bollinger £26.25 per bottle (if you buy 6)
For anyone that drinks the standard (Special Cuvée NV) Bollinger - it's about as cheap as you can ever find it right now - at Sainsbury's. It's on offer at £35 (from this morning) at the same time as they have one of their buy 6 get 25% off offers, meaning it can be had for £26.25 a bottle.
Sainsbury's are a little weird that they don't seem to coordinate wine offers, so if two offers coincide like this, the price becomes unusually good. The offer is only available for a few days, and on past form, I expect the shelves will empty fairly quickly. |

I prefer English sparkling wines. Nyetimber and Furleigh Estate are particularly good.

If you buy 6 you can get 25% off your English sparking, Cava or Prosecco as well.
It’s not just for the Bollinger, it’s 6 bottle of any wine. Tesco offer valid from 15th of October to the 5th of November. Not sure about Sainsbury’s. |

Not a champagne fan. Any nice Malbecs in that offer?

Anyone who thinks that the current restrictions on serving alcohol in Scotland are 100% to do with suppressing COVID is kidding themselves. I work in the drinks industry and there are real fears amongst senior figures that this is turning into an industry-bashing opportunity by the lefty fun-sponges |

Me neither, so just got a couple of Malbecs (maybe not nice by your standards but they are for drinking not savouring in my world currently!)and then got suckered into Prosecco and white wine for rest of household in the process as its 25% off, which seems to have been 75% on for me...
Had some expensive champagnes when we had a very upmarket casino in Berkeley Square but they did nothing for me. They did have some very nice reds at £300 plus a bottle, I may have been gifted one of those for above and beyond when the place closed..... |

Putting bubbles in wine just ruins a good drink. Being charged a hefty price for it is even worse.

I'm another that doesn't go for champers. Possibly slightly surprising given that most French wines are nectar to me.
A good alternative is Creme d'Alsace. It's made the same way as Champagne but tastes a lot smoother imho. Regarding the Sainsbury's offer, it's ok but usually coincides with them bumping the prices up. Some of our regular picks often go up and down by £5 so we save far more by keeping an eye on the prices and picking when to buy. Having said which, 25% off my favourite Cru Beaujolais is not to be sniffed at - assuming there's any left by the time I get there. |

I agree although sadly Mrs JNW1 doesn't and - worse - she's actually quite a fan of Bollinger! Somehow I can now see me heading to Sainsbury's to buy half a dozen bottles of the stuff to help her to get over the shock of completing dry October....

As above, most of Sainsbury's wines are included, but not the House range, which are cheap and cheerful.
The La Patrie Cahors Malbec is one of my favourites - currently £7 a bottle before the 25% discount, so £5.25 with, and tbh I'd happily pay twice that. PS just to illustrate my previous point, we bought a couple of bottles last week and it was only £6. |

Well to be strictly accurate it's usually OH that does it; we discovered years ago that we have incompatible shopping styles. Anyway, thanks for the prompt - there's half a dozen bottles of Chateau des Jacques with my name on them when she gets there
