Is there any difference between moving the gear lever to the left and changing my car to sport mode using the button as far as the transmission is concerned?

When I put the car into sport mode from comfort mode, do I need to move the gear lever as well or is that redundant?

Two different things. Moving the gear selector to the left puts the transmission in sport mode. The shifts will be quicker only.

Putting the car into sport mode with the button only increases throttle response and tightens steering.

That is to say if you have the sport transmission or code 2TB

I have a 2014 435i x-drive. I currently do not have this option. Can anyone confirm that with this option coded, the steering wheel feel changes between sport and comfort? As of now, I have no change in the feel between the modes.

**It may be important to note that I do not have Adaptive suspension or Variable sport steering.

And of course if you dont care about the sport mode throttle you can simply move the gear lever to the left in comfort mode to get the "sport" transmission shift points.

The one thing that isn't achievable is to have sport throttle only since they bundle throttle and transmission settings together under drivetrain. Personally i'm ok with that since i can't stand the sport throttle setting.
But you should be able to achieve:
-steering only (by sleecting chassis only)
-tranmssion only (using gear lever)
-Steering, trans and throttle (all)
-Steering and trans (chassis only + gear lever to left)
-trans and throttle only (drivetrain)
I have an M Performance package (DHP) F31d. It is possible to get sport throttle response but comfort auto shifting in comfort mode by coding?

Obviously if you have EDC then you will have sport suspension in comfort mode, but if you don't then its perfect, sport steering with everything else comfort.
I have a '17 F31 with adaptive suspension and there are no configurable settings for comfort mode. In drive mode settings, I only see sport and ecopro. It would be great to be in comfort mode but get sport throttle response, sport steering and comfort suspension.

Thanks for the great thread. I now get the options on our 2016 F15 X5.

I did the macro_fds but like others could not find Icmkod_b_sportsindividualisierbar. Looking around a in ICM I did finally find QdmKfvSportIndividualisierbarDep which did the trick.

In ICM set QdmKfvSportIndividualisierbarDep from singlebar to Individualisierbar

I'm using Bimmercode for coding. I was able to change macro_fds and now the driver mode comes up on the Idrive menu but does not allow me to pick the options.
I'm unable to find the Icmkod_b_sportsindividualisierbar.
Can it be changed with Bimmercode?
Thanks.

Just a quick note to say thanks. Just what I was looking for. I can't stand the sport throttle mapping but like the heavier steering.

All I needed to do on my 2013 F31 330d was code Macro_FDS to 'popup_and_configure' and all is working. Didn't need to change anything else.

Bit of an update, whilst this brings up the menu and allows me to move the flag this does not actually change the sport setting.

Attempting to code ICM to see if this then actually implements the settings. Although having problems reading the CAFD files at present, will update psdzdata and post back results.

Final update, after some help from Shawnsheridan I finally managed to read the ICM module and change Icmkod_b_sportsindividualisierbar to ein (werte 01).

All works as expected now.

I suspect those who only made the change in macro_fds (earlier in this thread) are not actually influencing the configuration of sport mode despite the fact the menu functions as intended.

Hi, does anyone know if this works on CIC units? I have a 2013 BMW 328i xDrive and would love to have this feature if it's available.

Can you clarify how you did this? Did you use expert mode?

You have to code both for the options to work.

I can configure sport and eco pro from factory.
For sport I have 3 options: 1. Drivetrain & Chassis; 2. Drivetrain; 3. Chassis.
I have selected Drivetrain & Chassis.

What actually should I expect to happen when changing form comfort to sport?
With lever on normal position, I see that in sport it changes at higher revs.
With lever on the left (M/S) it changes at same revs no matter if sport or comfort.
I can not see other differences, steering feels the same, suspension the same, I can not judge about throttle.
