I think I'm going to go for the service pack offer on mine. A service is required at least every two years regardless of mileage so even a low mileage driver like me will get two services within the five year period; according to my local dealer those would cost circa £1k on an M340i so on that basis the service pack at £606 for 5 years/60k miles seems a good offer!

The caveat, though, is my car is relatively new (and hence low mileage) and I intend to keep it long-term; for the offer to make sense you need to get at least two services under the pack so for a low mileage driver who isn't likely to keep the car for at least four years the numbers might not stack-up...

Service pack quote is £459.46 for 84 months / until 140,000km.

Is that 84 months from now, or when the car is 84 months (7 years) old? I presume the latter, if the former its an absolute no brainer!

Car was last serviced in August this year, so due to my low miles, the next one won't likely be until around summer 2022, then summer 2024, so would likely only get one service on the pack before the car is 7 years old.

Maybe not worth it for me, although I see it does include a brake fluid change too....
My local dealer (John Clark Tayside) quote £93 for a brake fluid change and £293 for my next service (oil and filter only) so £386 total and about 70 odd quid cheaper than buying the extended service pack.

On double checking the BMW site, it appears the 30% discount is only being offered on service packs for new cars --- 30% discount* for BMW Service Inclusive package 60 months / 60,000 miles (respectively 100,000km). There is no mention of the extended pack (to 84 months) being included.

Pity, as 30% off £459 would have taken it to £321 and hence worth buying

Thanks t5pilot for the heads up.

I thought as my car is soon to reach it's 6th birthday, and having not had connected services since it expired at 3 years old I'd go for the Connected Package Plus as it'd be worth it just to bring the maps up to date.
Having placed to order I've now logged into my drive account and I only seem to have half the package and is saying I've still got to buy the RTTI and USB Map updates
The other options in the pack are all showing as green ticks in my account.
I've sent an email but has anyone else had this?
Thanks.

I’ve rang connected drive; they seemed to think it’s valid for my 330d reg 2015.
Although they said I should check with dealer. They said I need to check with connected drive 🤪
I’ve emailed them to get definite response. I need major service in 1000 miles which is the same cost as the 450 ish being quoted. I’d defo get monies worth as will incur at least another minor and brake fluid before the 84 months is up; assuming I keep car that long.....

Just had a 2nd activation email, 2 hours after the 1st one, everything on and working.
I guess they're processing a fair few orders.

I also took the connected plus option, I'm still considering the service package option, my car is 60 months old next April and only done 26000 miles, so I'm guessing it would cover one service or have I misunderstood that .

John, there is no money off the service packs for older vehicles unfortunately. I would only get a brake fluid change and one (minor) service under the pack so not worth it for me.

If however, the single service happened to be the major one, it could be worth it. Best thing to do is get your pack quote and compare to what will need done during the life of the pack. Idrive will give you projected dates/miles for each service requirement.

My dealer didn't have a clue on the BMW pricing either but did offer me their own 'service pack' which seems reasonable value if I was keeping the car long term. For £699, all servicing (inc brake fluid change) would be covered until the end of 2024, a saving of about £200 over individual prices. Their pack does not stay with the car if I sell it, but instead I would receive a pro rata refund for the elements of the pack not used.

Will be interested in what Connected Drive say - If BMW take 30% off the £459 pack, I'm in

I did a similar calculation based on the “big” oil service with air, fuel and micro filters changed and the difference for me was nearer £50. It’s unlikely with current conditions continuing that I would cover the mileage to squeeze a vehicle check in to the equation which would definitely tip the scales. However, £50 for fixed cost peace of mind

Ok I've had a reply from them:

"Thanks for your email about the Connected Package Plus and Remote Services.

I’ve had a look into this for you and as you currently have Remote Services active without any runtime limitations, this won’t change when purchasing the package, it will remain on the vehicle."

Cool!

Mines a Oct 2016 335d and has a 5 year service pack. c30k mileage.

Next service due is brake fluid Oct 2021 which is the end of my existing service pack (service pack covers only first brake fluid change?).

The service after is engine oil in 2022.

Buying the extension to 84 months/140km is £459.00 for me.
That extension covers me until 2022.

So sounds like I’d end up paying £459 for a oil service because I don’t do the mileage.

The extension would take you to Oct 2023 (7 years old). You'll be due another brake fluid change in Oct 2023 I think? So like me, you're only getting the minor (oil) service and maybe a brake fluid change under the pack, so seems its not worth it.

I haven't done the maths properly, but it does seem that even if your mileage is low (say for example there was some kind of weird national restriction on travel - I know, crazy idea but you never know) you still need the services when due. So you have to go by the due dates and find out how much each service will cost.

For example, mine has just had the 2 year 18,000 mile service even though I'm only on 8,000.

On the same basis, I'm due a c£600 and another c£300 in the next couple of years, so the pack worked out great value.

I checked the iDrive of my f15 x5 and the service history reads thus
14k miles 1st oil service inc filter £330
28k miles 2nd service oil and fuel and air filter£530
35k miles front brake pads £500(,not included)
40k miles vehicle check £67
and brake fluid check £127
55 k miles 4th service including fuel and air filter £530
63k miles rear brake pads £350(not included,)
so at my rate of 10 k miles a year I probably would get 3 oil services and 1 or 2 brake fluid and 1 vehicle check
£330,+£530+£330+£127+£67 =1384
If im really lucky may get another oil service and brake service out of the pack ie another £500
so at £1030 with 30%,off included it wouldnt be a loss
It is not that great a bargain.
At worst a £300 saving over 5 years at best an £800 saving.
Undecided!!

Is it possible to get a speed limit display on the idrive6 nav, just like waze?
Although I bought the Connected Package Plus, I still feel waze does a better job overall

For some reason it shows the Service Inclusive price for my car at £869, and says it can have a 30% discount but doesn't show how the discount is applied. Brilliant.

I think that will be the discounted price. As far as I can remember mine didn't say what the pre-discount price was.
