Brakes or transmission?

When I decelerate to a stop from about 20mph, I hear a groaning noise coming from the car. Can't tell if it's the brakes giving out, or maybe something from the drivetrain? Wasn't going on when I brought it to the dealership for service. Also feel some "vibration" in the pedal when decelerating hard from about 50mph. Rotors might need resurfacing? Car says pads are still good.

I'd have the pads checked to be sure there's sufficient lube between them and the pad carrier. Don't trust the wear indicator, at best it's an educated guess. Read about my experience with ungreased pads here:

Pedal vibration may be just the ABS at work.

Bring it to stop using the handbrake/emergency brake instead of using the pedal.
If you hear the same noise it's not coming from the brake rotor/pads.
