Not sure if this has already been discussed but the story below discusses how the virus mutates and the risks of accelerating the mutations.

That is a good article. It certainly shows how the randomness of mutations and good or bad luck depending on your point of view can result in the outgrowth of a certain mutation. I had followed the ideas about this mutation and this article nicely discussed that point. The same general point is true for the SA and Brazil strains and any others that might be out there.

Found the article interesting. If the same one person 'breeding ground' applies to other viral and bacterial conditions (in folks with compromised immune systems), answers a lot of questions following my wife having chemotherapy and being left with an underlying problem which flares.

Wuhan Coronavirus - The second wave (Moderator: Non-political discussion only)

So yes anytime you have a reduced function of your immune system you become more susceptible to different infectious agents.

I think this example they are trying to portray in a putative COVID patient is a bit different in that this person rather than suddenly becoming extra sensitive to an infectious agent they became a chronic carrier over a long period of time that through luck and chance developed in their chronically shed virus most or all of the mutations over time that became the U.K. B.1.1.7 variant.

Anyway,
Cheers

In the early days some other countries were saying vitamin d3 helps. May be a good find by scientist and a way out soon.

Garage List
Article in The Independent that reaffirms what a cruel disease this is.

One in ten Covid patients die within (5) months of leaving hospital and a third who survived had to be readmitted.
