Weird Noise When Backing In.

Does anyone experience a bit of a pop or strange noise when backing in with the steering wheel turned to either side pretty far? I can never recreate it; it only happens sometimes. Car only has 34400 miles.

So random, but this happened to me this morning backing into a stall at work. Never had the issue ever. Just did a brake change last night, not sure if that has anything to do with it (wheels or spacers settling?)

I have no idea what it could be. Car drives fine otherwise.

I've experienced this before and always thought it was the rear brakes. Seems to happen every time I back out and go to put it in drive after I wash the car or after some very spirited driving. I've always tacked it up to slight pad shift or brake dust or something. Happened on my s4 and mazdapseed6 too, but I might be experiencing a different noise than you.

This is more of a pop that a bad CV joint makes but I know it's not CV joints cause I only ever heard it backing in with the steering wheel turned.

Hey everyone, took the car to the dealer finally about the sound I was hearing; turns out it was the front rotors, they developed a lip and was catching on the pad. Front brakes were replaced under warranty.

Yea, I noticed this after week 1 of owning it. Usually when I reverse and turn almost to lock to get out of a spot, I will hear the "pop". I'm actually taking it to the dealer next Monday hopefully they figure it out.

It was considered a defect, so I ended up getting new fronts. I'm doing an M Performance brake kit soon, so it's not like it mattered haha.

Nice how much is the kit ? I wanted to get that package but so hard to find with everything else I wanted.

I'll report back next week what happens after the dealer. I hope they fix it and don't blame it on the pads shifting when going in reverse or something like that.

Interesting. Mine does something similar, not quite a pop, but always sounds like I am running over a pebble type of sound, sometimes when I back out of the parking spot and only momentarily. I think this is normal, since so many of us have this and we are too sensitive to all these sounds. Car has done that since new and currently at 45K.

The kit is $1,895 on getbmwparts.com. It's pretty cheap for a full BBK in all honesty.
