wrt the skylounge the driver and the front passenger cannot see it unless you cock up your heads.
For the rear (and in my case 3rd row) passengers it is a delight when travelling at night.
Using voice control kids say hi bmw change ambient lighting to green orange etc they have fun.
If I wasn't carrying passengers regularly in the back rows I wouldn't miss it much.

previous owners zero or 1 (in my case 1) no change in valuation. previous owners 2 down in valuation by 800 previous owner 3 down by 1600.

It seems to default to "?" for number of owners - mine went up by 250 when I set it to zero. Not much in the scheme of things I suppose

A bit of inflation is OK as long as we arent so far out of line with rest of world that our competitiveness suffers - but even then the ER mechanism should adjust to bring converted prices back into line....

But happy to look back next summer and see if we had or have 20% inflation. I am old enough to remember the days of inflation at those levels and none of the the causes then are in place now...

Certainly feels like that already and not even next year yet :-)

Key worker problems. I commute 100 miles a day and we haven't stopped through covid since defence is a constant priority. I also don't think explosives development is very work-from-home friendly

Mines just been valued at £26.3k, giving me around £5k in equity, very tempting as I'm only 10 minutes from work and we could at a push manage with 1 car for a while….

Well the weirdest thing happened yesterday when the wife got a phone call from the Ford dealer about swapping her 1 year old Fiesta for a brand new one at virtually no cost to change. So we thought that's too good to be true but went down the dealership anyway.

Bit of background .... we bought the wife a brand new Fiesta ST-Line X 155PS mild hybrid in Nov last year and got a good deal as it was in the middle of the Nov lockdown. It's a brilliant little car, light and agile with a reasonable amount of poke with from a peppy engine. We really like it. And on a recent trip to Devon got 50mpg on the way and get no less than 38mpg around town. Pretty good for 155PS. It's essentially the model below the ST.

Anyway, so got to the dealership and after a lot of humming and arr'ing (the usual dealer trying it on) they eventually agreed to sell us the exact same car for a £200 deposit with the exact same £186 monthlies - with obviously the part ex of our current car which is what they were really after.

The only downside is because of the semiconductor shortage, Ford are not fitting folding mirrors at the moment which is part of the spec for this model. A little disappointing but not a deal breaker considering we're looking at a virtually free car upgrade one year on.

So we put down the £200 and it should arrive in December.

So why bother to swap to the exact same car/colour?
There is no other car the wife wants - the ST would not be suitable for us and this is the next model down so more than enough.
We would need to pay about £200 for a service on the current car about the same time the new one is due so thats gone on the new car deposit instead (dealer said dont bother servicing the current car).
The new one is obviously worth more than the old one (although we'll own less of it being on PCP)
Tyres won't need changing as quick.
More costly major services won't come around as quick. Same for MOT.
Another year on the PCP for the wife to decide whether to keep it or chop it in (which in 3 or 4 years time would no doubt cost a lot more to change).
On her current car, she's knackered two of the alloys so we'll get nice shiny new alloys (which hopefully she'll look after)
And it'll be a 71 plate instead of a 70 plate, but honestly who will even notice these days so don't really care about that.

So it's purely financial reasons for swapping. Some could argue to keep the current one, pay it off and own it sooner. So it's a tricky one really. But for us its a free upgrade to a brand new exact same car 1 year on and we are happy with the decision we made.

Not too bad for a £23K list price car as when I put the wife's car into WBAC a few weeks ago it was only coming out at £16K.

@dopper99 that's a great deal, I think. Well worth doing on a car that you like.

This is exactly what I've done with the Mrs VW Polo. Prompted by me, not the dealer though.

Swapping from that to a T-Cross with the only thing I have to pay for being the new service plan.

Deals are definitely out there albeit maybe not on the likes of BMW etc

It's odd to see your old car online once it's been sold, particularly as it never looked that clean when I had it.

https://www.billingtonmotorgroup.co..../s)4dr/556508/

They've actually added the front spoiler, side skirts, rear diffuser and rear spoiler. Not to my taste but ETTO. Considering that I'm surprised that the price they are asking isn't a bit higher compared with the £25k they paid.

Will make someone a good car as it was well looked after.
