PB 2018MY 4 Series M Performance Edition

Hi everyone,

I just bought a 2018 BMW 440i GC MPE and I absolutely love it. The colour is Azurite Black and it is stunning in the daylight.

I understand that this is a very unique car however, I have not been able to confirm the exact production numbers.

I emailed BMW Canada and asked how many were produced for Canada, but they said that they don't share this information. I find this odd since M Performance Edition is a limited production vehicle, so why not share how unique it is.

Anyway, I have looked through this forum and I only found information for the 2016 340i MPE and 2018 340i MPE. But nothing for the 4 series.

Does anyone know what were the production numbers for the 2018 MPE 4 series (coupe and gran coupe)?

I think around 500 in all of Canada.

I was persistent with BMW Canada and finally, they replied to me with this:

"Thank you for contacting BMW Canada.

We appreciate your patience while we looked into your inquiry regarding the number of 2018 BMW 440xi Gran Coupe M Performance editions produced. We are pleased to inform you that there were 100 total units produced. We hope you find this information helpful."

There were 4 colours:
25 Orange Sunset
25 Alpine White
25 Frozen Silver
25 Azurite Black

Now, those numbers are strictly for the 2018 Gran Coupe MPE, I would imagine that Coupe numbers are similar but in different colours.

Hope this helps someone.

So then you don't have one, they are different trims. The MPE came with lots of other bits not available on the M Perform packages.

lol, yep it is MPE "M Performance Edition" They are often used inter changeably but obviously different.

I don't have F3x MPE, but a G20 2021.

The M Performance Package I and II are not the same as getting a M Performance Edition. The MPE's have extra bits and typically merino leather, some carbon trim in and out. Used MPE's are typically much higher than trims without. They come in individual colours, 20 " wheels, etc... and are limited production cars, typically around 200 and are not released every year.

And there is NO WAY a M Performance Edition would be for sale at 35k, just look it up, they are > 50K especially for the GC.

Every search I did with "MPE" it came up with the exhaust. Then I asked my 14 year old son who did extensive research on this car and informed me that it was "M performance edition". Then I found on YouTube a dealer in BC showing off the MPE.

The coupe colours were
Valencia Orange
Alpine White
Black Sapphire
Avus Blue

I want to say they made 50 of each coupe, but I could be wrong.

On a side note, Avus Blue has got to be one of the nicest blues BMWs ever made.

Just to clear the confusion.
What BMW qualifies as an "M Performance Edition" is a version of a BMW that has limited production numbers and it comes with all M performance options from the factory and it was only made for Canada.

It came with the following straight from the factory:
ZVC - 20" M Performance Lt/Alloy Wheels, Style 405 M
M Performance Parts
ZXX - High Gloss Black Kidney Grille
ZXX - Black Side Skirts
ZXX - Carbon Fiber Exhaust Tips
ZXX - Front Splitter (partially painted – body colour)
ZXX - Rear Diffuser (partially painted - body colour)
ZXX - Carbon Fiber Rear Lip Spoiler
ZE1 - M Performance Exhaust
ZE2 - M Power Kit
XT1 – Merino Leather Dashboard and Door Trim

The only option you could get is a parking assistant and a digital dash.

And the verbiage from BMW bulletin:
"BMW Canada is pleased to announce the availability of the 2018 440i M Performance Edition. These models showcase
the vast array of M Performance components designed to enhance the styling and performance attributes of these
already striking and powerful automobiles. Equipped with the latest M Performance Power Kit and Exhaust, tailor made
for the B58 engine, this is the fastest and most powerful M Performance Edition 4 Series available."

Individual Marino leather would be more difficult to replace though.

Hi, I'm aware this is an older thread, but does anyone know if it is possible to install merino leather on a standard 440i? If not from the factory as an option, is it realistic to be able to find someone to do perform such an installation process?

Suspect you'd have to find an upholstery shop, then source the leather. This would probably be difficult pre-covid, likely very difficult now. And the cost, wow, probably easily 5k+++

Its so strange that BMW Canada want to keep it secret that how many M performance edition were came to Canada in 2018 for F32 in Valencia orange , by searching through internet i think its 50 units but not sure as its not official , anyway only one in the province of Newfoundland - Canada and she belongs to yours truly

To be honest, the markup on the MPE 340/440i isn't worth over normal 340/440i with MPPSK.

I bought my Sunset Orange '18 340i MPPSK with 37,000km for 43k taxes in (CAD) flat, I found another one for sale that was the '18 340i MPE in Tanzanite Blue with 55,000km for 54k+tax (CAD)

If you're able to find one for 45k and under, it's a good price.

That's a great price (not sure when you bought it, perhaps before the used car bubble?), prices haven't come down back to normal yet so doubt you can find anything in that price range for now.

Agreed. I bought my 2017 340i 6MT MPPSK with 39,000km for $42.5k back in Sept 2020. It's black, which I don't like, and have been looking for white or blue ones and they are $50k+ now if they are 6MT with MPPSK.

I bought it in october/November 2022, it was being sold at jaguar Moncton and noone touched it for some reason.
