The 4er Gran Coupe would compete against the 3er and the 5er. I think that's a bit too crowded a space.

Owning an A5 Sportback I've long hessitated to go for the F30 3 series, but love the styling of the gran coupe 6. So this 4GC is exactly to my liking and budget. 5 series is too big for me and 3 series lacks the 'unique' styling. So IMO the GC coetes in a whole different class that the 3 and 5 series.

I hear what you're saying, but I just think that a) this will not be a large market at all (and will it even justify all the production costs?), and b) there will be terrible model line confusion. It's getting to be as bad as Mercedes' lineup - 1er, 2er, 3er, 4er, 4er GC, 5er, 5er GT, 6er, 6er GC, 7er, X1, X3, X5, Z4, and then the whole M line. Phew!

I understand your concerns about buying an F30 now, but I have a 2013 and I've had NONE of the problems that I've read about on these forums, save for a loose left side taillight lens that was easily fixed by my dealer. I feel badly for all the people that have issues with their cars, but at the same time I'm really loving mine and would recommend one to anyone that asks me.

With them saying there is more "technic" on the 4 series, whatever that means, any idea what the rear suspension looks like on the concept? I can't find any pics that show any under the bumper shots of the car.

My real hope here is for some aluminum arms and links like the current 5er and e90, and Audis..... Really let down they went to an all steel setup on the F30 sedan, unsprung weight is the worst place to add it! (well, next to rotating, unsprung weight).

Production of the F32 4 Series coupe starts July, so we won't see deliveries or in showrooms until August-September.

F33 4 Series convertible production starts in November.
