Were you tracking your car from when it was produced? If so, do you know how long your car was at the port to have the MPE installed? My car has been at the port for over a week now, and I'm trying to determine if that's why?

Can someone post pics of their 340 MPE? Picked up mine from PCD and one tip appears to be recessed back than the other (RH side). Played around with the 5mm hex screw to adjust the length position; however, then there is a gap between exhaust and chrome tip. Hopefully you know what I mean...

I was tracking it, yes. Arrived at port on a Friday afternoon or Saturday. Was shipped out the following Saturday. I had a previous BMW hit the port and leave same day in the past so I assume the week delay was for the black kidneys and the MPE install.

One thing I've noted with the MPE after a month and the full break-in mileage -- in comfort mode, the pops/burbles are completely gone. BMW didn't do this with a flap(s) but instead is doing it through throttle/engine management from best I can tell. Very interesting...

Shot the video with 2 different cellphones. The iPhone 6S mic is definitely lower quality than my Samsung Note 5 mic and I think the difference is apparent in the spliced videos. That said, it sounds better than I thought it would as from inside the cabin it's quieter than my 335is exhaust. Miss that higher-pitched wail from the 335is... not much competes with it.

Either way, it sounds great and much better than the F80 I was going to get if I could have found an allocation.

Now that it's been a month or so, how's the exhaust sounding? Do you still enjoy it? Have any thoughts that an aftermarket exhaust would be better? I'm still sort of considering this.

I'm still happy with it. It's settled down a little bit with the pops. They're just as frequent but the really loud pops are less frequent it seems. However, every now and then it'll surprise me or my passengers with a loud round of pops off-throttle. Still sounds great on startup. It will never compare to the higher pitched, exotic wail of my 335is exhaust but it works for me and I have no interest in trying anything else as this is a lease and it was installed at the port.

I was originally looking to get an M3 (no allocations) and I'm happy to say my car sounds 10x better than any F80 M3/M4 I've heard in person. An M3 will be my next car when this comes off lease and I hope by then there will be some reasonable options for exhaust. I honestly wouldn't be able to deal with the M3 sound as-is coming from the 335is and now the 340i with the MPE. Sound is such a big part of the visceral experience for me and the M3 fails there... Fix it BMW!
