Does this only work on iDrive 6? I've been reading the thread and cannot be 100%
I have all the BT extras on my 2017 330e with iDrive 5, wifi hotspot, wifi antenna, wireless charging, 6WA etc.
Do I need to upgrade from iDrive 5 to 6 first? Is that software only or also hardware? Or I just need the FSC code to enable? Would also need video-in-motion to make it usable of course, can that be enabled the same way?

I dont have WiFi antenna but If I add one does it need additional coding to make it work (apart from necessary coding for CP)? Thanks

I'd like to know the same thing, you can get the same on https://www.bimmer-tech.net/bmw-idrive-coding/ but costs a bit more and would be safer.
Looks like I have the wifi antenna and screen mirroring works on iDrive 5.0 also but need to get video in motion or it is useless on its own.

I too wouldn’t buy a code from some random Ebay seller, hence using @wibbles who is trusted within the BMW community!

you won't need the antenna - VIM can be added at the same time as CP

It won't change VO coding or the actual FA (VO) itself. you won't see what is in the file, it is a binary file.

Some solutions have a way to unload the activation and put the car back to standard befor a dealer visit - not all solutions are equal - buying cheap is not always the best solution.

Worst case scenario, car goes in for a service, they update the software and the screen mirroring/VIM goes away. Can just use the same files on the USB and configure again after?

If they update the firmware on the idrive then no, you cannot currently re-apply the same files -this is something introduced into the latest firmware.

So I'd be best off doing the service that is due in January and apply changes after.

Can you run BMW navigation in the 2/3 window and carplay media in the 1/3 window? I'd probably use carplay mainly for media playback as I'd want the BMW navigation so it displays on the digital dash.

New files will be required once a workaround is found. At the moment once it's gone, it's gone unless the firmware is rolled back.
