Hi Sams, not sure if this is the correct thread. I have been trying to use MOG with USB, it keeps reverting back to iPhone music. I hear 1 or 2 seconds of MOG music and then reverts back to music on the phone. I have the New Nav. Any advice would be appreciated.

Here you go:

There may be other/simpler ways, but this seems to work:

1) Launch Pandora (or could be Mog, or other BMW Apps app) from your phone BEFORE you start iPhone/iPod playback
2) Start playback of Pandora via ConnectedDrive/BMW Apps.
3) Press Home button on iPhone, launch any other streaming app that you want to listen to.

The car still seems to think it's in the ConnectedDrive audio menu, as evidenced by the Entertainment details screen. You can now consistently play back any other audio service via your iPhone without the iPod audio overriding what you're doing.

SamS, I tried you suggestion and it keeps jumping to the iPhone music. As soon as i connect usb on the screen a song starts from my phone stored music. BTW we do not have BMW apps in Australia so it is purely through idrive media. Could it be the New Navigation. It's very frustrating as I listen to MOG quite often. On the loan 1 series I was even seeing MOG album art.

No BMW Apps? Hmm...

Do you have ConnectedDrive in the menu? To get USB audio (i.e. MOG-not the BMW Apps version, Live365, etc), to override the iTunes/iPod audio, you need to force the car to think it's in the ConnectedDrive audio input.

Hi SamS, I have connectdrive in the menu. Within the connectdrive menu there are no reference to audio. I connect the music through media external device .Not sure if this helps.

Right, there is no way to manually force audio input from the ConnectedDrive menu, you have to "fool" the car into thinking it is playing audio from ConnectedDrive/BMW Apps first (by starting Pandora for example), then you can play USB audio from an iPhone.

Does your not have option code 6NR (BMW Apps) at all?

No I do not have code 6NR, I have music interface and enhanced Bluetooth connectivity. If I start MOG and then connect via USB it will play MOG for 2 seconds and cut back to iPhone stored music. MOG does work through bluetooth. It was also working well on my previous 1 serious with a standard Nav.

Yes, I understand exactly how it is failing. I had the same problem until I found the work-around. The most likely fix would be to retrofit 6NR via coding. Then you could use the method I use and described earlier. Otherwise, I don't think there will be a solution unless BMW offers it via update. You could always complain to your dealer and see if they'll escalate up to BMW AG?

Try one more thing.... before you plug in your iPhone via USB, go to Menu then ConnectedDrive. Click into the ConnectedDrive menu, and scroll down a ways. Now plug your iPhone in and launch MOG.

Hi SamS, I'm sorry to say that I tried going into connectdrive and then plugging the iPhone, and so to no success. As soon as I connect external device through media the iPhone music kicks in. How frustrating. Not sure what to try next.
