Summer vs. Winter Tyres - BMW style

BMW now chipping in with their tyre message. Am surpried they didn't end the video with a marketing message about getting your winters from your friendly BMW dealer.

They should have done an intermediate cold and wet test too rather than 1 extreme to the other....

Indeed, where's the one in the wet at 3-7 degrees, which is more what we actually have to deal with in the UK.

I'm sold on the new generation of All-season tyres, like the Michelin Cross Climate, so will be getting a set of them to use as winter tyres most likely.

What I took from that video is winter tyres look the most fun on a slalom course, snow or dry!

It’s just a pity Michelin don’t currently do a full set in oem sizes for the f3x in the cross climates in either 18 or 19”

Meh no need for winter tyres, if you rely on them then you can’t drive.

Winter tires serve a specific purpose just like summer tires do. Even the most skilled drivers will benefit from a tire engineered for a given set of climate conditions.

They almost do for the 18” now.

They do a 245/40/18 which is actually a better fit on the 8.5j than the 255/40/18 is. https://www.blackcircles.com/catalog...gaAm9TEALw_wcB

225/45/18 for the fronts.

Dusting of snow on the mountains this morning, time to consider sealing the winter wheels.

BTW, mountains are cooling faster this autumn, good for skiing when the serious snow comes.

Probably all that climate change that Greta keeps banging on about.

On a serious note, the climate up here is all over the place, getting more extreme over the past decade or two. Not the thread for debate, but those who rely on steady weather patterns (and log the data, like the ski centres) know it’s not as it used to be.
