1st year of a 5 year period out of work, the Banks really fucked over the consultants side of the construction industry. I was too senior and too experienced for the jobs being advertised despite a lot of interviews. Two sons still living at home, the E92 sitting in the driveway.

Now, still working though past my retirement date, despite raking in the cash, one son (the one with the F-Type) earns more than me, the other son, gave me and SWMBO our first grand child. After the 430i GC, settled on a highly specified XE as a "retirement" car. Liking it a lot. Our 2nd holiday of the year took in Washington DC and flying first class and soon, off to Australia and New Zealand for a month.

I prefer 2019 to 2009

2009 - Married for eighteen years , two kids 14 / 11 , in a decent job (Daily Record) , wife working part time.

Saab 9-3 Aero Coupe on the driveway along with the wifes Ignis , ZRX1100 in the garage with a MZ Baghira Supermoto to keep it company.

FF 10 years , still married , child one working in London / child two working in a DIY store but doing his SFA coaching badges , still working for the same company as is the wife.

440 / Juke / Forester / Fiesta on the drive with the same ZRX1100 still in the garage along with a ZX12R and another heavily modified ZRX.

Had enough of shiftwork so planning on hanging up the spanners in 27 months at 55, not that I am counting.

10 years ago, was in a smaller house working for an IT firm. Oldest child was 3 years old and youngest was 6 months old with colic.....!!!!!

Drove a bmw e60 530d having just changed from a 330ci sport and wife had an Audi A3

Fast forward 10 years and still work in IT albeit for a different company, eldest is about to hit his teens and daughter starts secondary school next year.

Live in a bigger house now, which just means more bills!! Car wise, we have a 540i and an S5 and I actually love the S5 more than the g30....!

Manage to do one long haul holiday and a few weekends away every year. Cash isn’t tight but could always have more, but we have a few more years of mortgage left as we have been paying double for a fair few years now and then we can (hopefully!!) enjoy life even more...! Definitely can’t complain though.....we do have it good compared to many out there 🙏🏼

Living an expat lifestyle in Asia, no kids, plenty of cash and with one of the main questions in life being which 5 star hotel sunday brunch to go to based on Champagne served and food.... I could name them all in Singapore back then!

Well lucky enough to have done that and now have kids, back in the UK, mortgage etc but doing OK and my liver is a lot happier!

I was just about to start at the company I work at now. I was 21, had a Peugeot 206SW and not long bought my first house with my girlfriend, now wife.

A lot has changed since then, but life was so much easier back then haha. Less responsibilities and happy with what I had. Now it's a constant uphill battle to better myself to get things that are financially out of my reach lol
