CarPlay won't connect (iOS 13.3)
I've got an iPhone 6s with the latest ios on it. I've managed to connect it to the car before although it's been intermittent. On some days, I've managed to walk in to the car and it has autoconnected and booted up the CarPlay screen allowing me to go straight to Waze etc.
Yesterday, it was playing up and refusing to connect kicking me off the CarPlay.. So I did the whole Delete device and unpair from my phone.. tried to repair and it just fails every time and asks me to retry. Starting to get a bit frustrated as I had similar issues with an older iDrive version and now I've had the car updated to the latest 19-11 I'm having the same. CarPlay is a retrofit on a 2016 (66) F32 with the wireless receiver as I've had the carplay kick off and work while the phone is in my coat pocket. Any ideas on what I can/should do next? Note* bluetooth connectivity works fine, I can use the apps off the phone (sportify/audible) and make calls as normal. |

For Connection issues, add WLAN Aerial Antenna.

I tried to hold the phone up to the climate control panel and the screen. It has definetly worked in the past. On the 2016 software and the 2019 software. I don't get why this is happening to me. I have a feeling even after installing the Wifi Antenna this might not work. Edit - I am however looking at now installing a WiFi Antenna to also Rule that out. I'm the UK, if anyone can reccomend the correct Antenna - also (amazon uk) if someone can tell me what torx screwdriver I'll need that'll be much appreciated Last edited by 96fauj; 02-06-2020 at 07:00 AM.. |

For anyone else buying a Wifi antenna in the UK.
I just went straight to a BMW dealer (Sytner in my case) and it's advertised for £23. Collecting tomorrow. I found it to cost more from 3rd party retailers. |

All installed smoothly, carplay seems to be much more stable. Has instantly connected when I've walked in tot he car last 2 days. Happy days! I'd post a picture of the wlan antenna and how I nicely placed it, but nothing exciting there. |
