Afternoon Bimmerpost UK.
It is quite possible I’ve had a few too many ciders in the garden. 🤗 Anyway small development this week, as per title car on order and just 3 weeks till we collect. We considered the MG Cyberster and another iteration of an MX5. I’d have a Cyberster in a heartbeat, incredible car (much disrespect intended) from an company churning out the MG3 and some bang average mini SUVs. If it were MY car and my only car with family catered for elsewhere (ie 5 seats) I’d go the Cyberster. However the choice is MX5 RF Homura spec in Soul Crystal Red. The cars to be tinkered with long term. 😆 Really can’t wait for summer now. Such happy memories in lockdown of the 30AE keeping me sane in trips out with the wife or daughter on ‘essential’ journeys. I also feel I need to have a little Ying to the Yang of the EV world. Pics are random Soul Crystal Red cars and my past 30AE. Again the hard top I know is a little heavier and a little noisier but worth it for me to use more all year and as this won’t be garaged (the home gym has taken over) makes a load of sense for us. So, 3 weeks time, some (mini scale) proper car attributes:- - Engine Naturally Aspirated - Engine Inline and mounted back from the front axle and in the correct orientation 🙃 - Engine Front and RWD - LSD standard and updated for 2024 - 7500 Redline - Gearbox, one of the best in the business and directly connected - Weight, the enemy of fun. Modern ‘sports’ car weighing circa 1800kg is ‘interesting’ the HP wars meant the 0-60 times were still epic but something about a fly weight 1100kg ish car is such an old school blast. How long will this be possible I don’t know but if it’s remotely possible, test and MX5 and you’ll love it. Make room for car 2 or 3 it’s so cheap to run on fuel, tyres and everything at those weights The Homura comes with the Recaros and speakers in the headrests, BBS lightweight forget wheels, Brembo brakes and all options. Some very dull colours in the palette but SCRed is superb and you do understand why a lot of Mazda cars go this way. Finances a big draw to the price too. Think circa £31k but till add the Aerokit separate. Taking the PCP for the deposit contribution then settling. Like a lot of folk on here I can ‘afford’ a lot more well into the obvious M line of cars, for me the engagement is lacking a little there and the opportunity to open up on ‘his’ majesty’s roads are so so limited neo their X Drive 3s 0-60 rapid. I cannot wait to row those gears with the wind in what left of the quiff. Happy Bank Holidys folks. Apologies as ever for the typing 😂😂

Good shout.
Our soul red Humora. We tested the RF but the full convertible experience did it for us |

Lovely choice Chris, I remember your orange one. The MX5 appears brilliant value for money these days.
