QuickJack 5000lb
To those who owns a quick jack, Is 5000lb sufficient for most cars? Mainly will be using it for cars ie M3, 540i, CRV, etc.

It has a lock feature like any other lift that clicks as it goes up. You flip it out of the lock gate to disengage the lock to lower it.

There is another thread where someone pointed out a "false lock" if the arms are not backed in and seated firmly. Look for that thread. Otherwise I get under mine. Used to put a floor jack under as a failsafe but don't do that anymore. Check BOTH sides for proper lock ever time.

I've been using the QuickJack for years and years. It is phenomenal.
The onsite repair shop at Watkins Glen has a QuickJack it has been using for more than 5 years. It is used nonstop as it is the only lift they have, and it is still going strong! That convinced me to buy one back in the day. It is approximately infinitely safer than jacks. The arms 'lock' very clearly and can be easily checked if you are the paranoid type before getting under the car. On the QuickJack website you can see videos of people running and jumping against a raised car and of the platform picking up 20k lb. |

I am in talk with my neighbor if he wants to split the cost and go in with me lol. He's got a 992GTS coming in end of June, although he does not touch his cars, I am convincing him for his Porsche 911, quick jack is a must.

Great I have the 7000slx guess it won't fit my car now. There's no way to extend it right? Those extensions they sell are for height and not length right. Can we install an exhaust with rhino ramps? Reverse the car up them?

No. The extensions are for length. They (the QuickJack ones)just don't extend enough to use the 5000 on the G8X.

They also make a BL-5000EXT that should work as well without the need for extensions. That's what I use on all my cars including an F13.

Yes. The entire length. Since I am lowered on MSS I need to drive up on two 2x8 blocks or a 4" race ramp. You need to have at least 2" of clearance for the jack to work properly.

I’ve thought about DIY extenders but was a little…ok a lot..unsure about doing it. Would love to know what type (wall thickness etc) to order so that I don’t have to try and sell the ones I have. |

I just did a little looking around and apparently (translation duh moment) you can use the quick jacks width wise (sideways) as long as it hits the jack points safely.
I’ll have to see if it works, will have to wait until it’s not 100 degrees in my garage. |

Can you do this and report back, I just spent $600 on an ac hydraulic jack. The only flaw I see with this though if you want to do exhaust or anything really aside from tire rotation it will be a pain.

I tried both ways (sideways and normal) on my m340i which should have the same jackpoints as the m3/4. It doesn't work with the standard length quikjack because it is too short. You may be able to get the quikjack extenders and have them work sideways (definitely won't work the normal way even with the extenders) but that won't work for me since I also have an X5 that I also want to lift up. Next step is to buy a pair of metal tubes like Soylent so I don't have to get an entirely new lift.

Even if it works, it really does limit the usefulness of them. |

I use a QJ 5000 all the time with my M4C. I bought the extenders, and it still wont reach the jack points, but there is a nice flat spot just behind the front and in front of the back jack point that work perfectly with the rubber square it comes with.
