AUC non-dealer service
Looking at buying an approved used 320d that’s 5 years old.
Everything about it is good except for one entry on the service history. Previous owner had a brake fluid service carried out at a non dealer ‘bmw specialist’. Everything else carried out at main dealer. There is an entry for it on the idrive but it’s not on the bmw server, so presumably if the idrive is ever wiped I’d lose that entry. My intention was, once the 12 month approved used warranty is up, to take out a bmw insured warranty. If I had paperwork but not the idrive entry would that likely be enough to avoid issues with either warranty? Does the bmw insured warranty require all services to be carried out at main dealer? |

I've had a fair bit of warranty work carried out on my F31 in 2023; it only went back to them for the MOT in Dec just gone The rest of the work I've had done, my pals done it for me; all invoices retained to show the parts used etc

None of our current or previous BMW's have been serviced at the main dealer, always been specialist and history has been on i drive and BMW servers.
Have had warranty work carried out on all of them with no issues. Wife's Z4, she has has since 2014 now on 94K miles and has a bmw extended warranty since the AUC waranty expired in 2015, including breakdown / recovery. We recently had a battery issue (it was the original 12years old!), I bought a new one fitted it and registered it to the car, it then flagged up an ABS warning and electronic handbrake issue. Bit of research showed it to be a common issue and needed a software update, so I took it to my independent to do. Independent did the update but it wouldn't complete the process for some reason, so he took the car to BMW, they checked it out and found similar, turns out there was an issue with the instrument cluster (although everything worked), they replaced the cluster under warranty (circa £900), no questions asked or issues. So I suspect that as long as there is a valid VAT receipt for the brake fluid change and you can prove that it has been serviced accordingly, it is not going to be an issue. |

Regarding the non bmw server entry. That entry on the idrive will get wiped as soon as any future service history is updated on the BMW server.
Regarding the actual brake service, as it's not on the server, if BMW can't prove that it has being done with paperwork, then it shouldn't be getting sold as an approved used car as they can't confirm it has a full service history. |
