Was looking for a used set but at this point I'll pull the trigger on new parts once I see there is/isn't a cyber Monday deal.

Alright game on. Looks like BC doesn't like doing sales so I'll start ordering parts for one front and one rear today to kick off final design and custom component ordering.

No spring thoughts yet. Day job stuff has had me 60-120hrs/wk since Aug. so I haven't given any thought to anything else. I'll start making a new spreadsheet for my car and probably make some comparisons through wheel frequencies to what I liked on my vette and what some forum sleuthing says is good for a 90/10 daily/track type driver. It's a tuning process anyway, I'll have 2-3 sets on hand to start.

still going with the BC dampers? i remember Anze used to use bilsteins to start out, he rebuilt a set of my AST, he was/did deal with penske. that was in like 2016. i know its a pretty small world for companies that actually rebuild the dampers. are you saying you are building 2-3 sets to sell or just for R&D purposes? i just picked up a 340 so i am on the hunt for a set of coilovers. being winter here in the northeast has me in no rush. i was strongly considering ohlins but seems like they are pulling their f30 kit to rework them to make them work with the new Z4, or at least that was what i was told by an insider.

Yeah still starting with BC's cause they're cheap and rebuildable and I am capable of polishing a turd when it comes to dampers.

I supported Anze a little when I was with Penske. I'm basically doing what he's done by mixing my own parts and others.

I meant 2-3 sets of springs to test different rates.

Joy

Need a new vice, build table, shim kit, kick ass shock oil, and some custom tooling. Based on my convo with BC, I'll be the only one in the world running digressive pistons on their BR series coilovers. Not sure why they designed the pistons to only fit gigantic 53mm bores but the 46mm bore in the BR series does not create a shim reliability or flow issue.

First thing is to get these measured up and then installed to start evaluating what they provide out of the box while parts are being designed/ordered.

This is going to depend on your spring rate. The higher spring rate you go, the less length (and thus travel) you need.

You'll also need to determine when your bump stop engages too to prevent bottoming out (either the damper or main spring going into full bind).

No not yet, trying to survive the end of year push at my day job. Currently at a startup designing active suspension for OEMs. Used to work at Penske Racing Shocks.

Looks like I'm bringing back the old vlog! Started documenting my progress on the turd polishing project. Rear damper model is 75% done. Just need to take it apart to measure the shaft bearing and sealing cap on the other end of the main tube. The main piston and floating piston are basically done and already out for quote. On to the fronts tomorrow.

I have CAD of both front and rear dampers now but most of the progress is in the detail drawings for part ordering. Not stuff I want to post online. Now that I have rear CAD though I'm thinking about the cheapest way to invert the damper.

No progress. I hired a contractor to help guide me on my custom wheel FEA which obviously takes priority. Along with that are my floating rotors for the custom Wildwood BBK. So dampers fell to 3rd place for a bit but I'm almost done.
