Hello all, in the process of modding my 340i (alpine white) and wanted to get a front lip to add a more aggressive look but don't like the look of replacing with an m3 bumper so I figured a front lip was the natural choice. I'm relatively sold on the design below at this point. But I wanted some advise from you all, where have you guys gotten your CF front lips and did you have good experiences or bad ones? And did any of you have trouble doing the installs yourself? Thanks as always look forward to hear from everyone.

Are you jet set on CF? Here is my AW with an el cheapo matte black lip from ebay, DIY install is a breeze. For added security I substituted some push clips with small nuts and bolts. I'm not lowered and it's got scratches already, so be aware of that. Not tryna take business from anyone, especially now...

First off love the car! I also have an AW with the 403m wheels even though I just got a new set of wheels. And I do like how the lip looks I just have carbon everywhere else on the car so I'm afraid it will look unbalanced and off if I do just a black front lip. But definitely something I've thought about cuz MA roads suck a lot. Also you've sold me on getting the fog lights done in yellow , wasn't totally sold but now I am!

I really like the look of the abs front lip and I heard so many bad experiences about the carbon fiber lip. it's so fragile and so expensive. I iike the look on @im_an_alien.

Yea it does look really good maybe you are both right I would love to see the carbon one but it might not be worth smashing something so nice on our crappy roads Wonder if I can source a gloss black abs one might work better with the gloss carbon on the rest of the car

Currently rocking a PSM CF trunk lip, RW carbon diffuser, Carbon mirror caps. Full carbon interior, CF grilles but I still decided to get the matte cheapy one. CF front lips are the only part i'm not gonna splurge on because I know they get destroyed fast. Everyday my decision gets reinforced when I scrape the shit out of my plastic lip on stock suspension lol.

I agree on cheap lips because of the damage they take. I've had three different lips. Two were abs plastic. The one I have now is polypropylene. Abs is supposed to be stronger, but I've had better luck not chipping the polypropylene one. Either way, better idea than a more expensive carbon fiber lip. Unless you REALLY love cf.

+1 with a cheap ebay/amazon one. Got mine off amazon and while the fitting is not 100% spot on, its good enough where you wouldn't notice until you were an inch away from the car. I went the extra mile and drilled out bigger holes where the push pins go and used riv nuts to create a pretty damn sturdy lip. I've scraped it absolutely everywhere and its still holding strong. Fingers crossed.

amazon or ebay are good sources. depending on your grill. if your grill is glossy it might be wise to get a glossy lip. just my take.

Yea eBay seems to have a lot thinking glossy might work better with everything. Did anyone get one that was multi piece? Or just the one piece? I've seen a lot of multi piece and figured best to avoid them! Also appreciate all the advise was gonna go carbon but I'm totally on board with abs now after my local shop agreed when we were talking and said I'd be renting the carbon one not buying it haha

Mine bolted directly in with oem screws, I also put on some pretty strong 3m tape for that extra little security.

You guys will want to opt for polypropylene if your going plastic, it'll at least bend when you rub.

I had the glossy abs one and the cracked in half when I rubbed going over a speed bump. Same thing happened with 2 other buddies of mine. First time I EVER "lost" a lip in 15 years.

If you spend some money on a quality CF lip you won't have any issues - that's what I'm running now I wouldn't go back to plastic.

good to know! I'll see what I can find made out of poly so far the ones I've found in gloss black that were a solid bottom instead of the multi piece are all abs. But hoping to find others too! Love the look of the carbon on yours really makes your paint pop!

Thx and yeah good idea. I took a chance with ABS since I "never" hit and sure enough I had a mild rub and the lip shattered.

Good luck with your search as most have said eBay has a lot of options.

I recommend painting the side part of the lip and leaving the bottom flat part unpainted. I did that cause I'm pretty rough on my lip but I think the look adds some contrast.

I agree that looks really good, if I chose to get mine custom painted I'd go that route for sure! Car looks great btw!
