I ordered a cover from aliexpress, so in a month or so, I'll join the wheel cover club.
One trick or tip I used when doing other wheel covers like this was to use an aluminum crochet needle. It makes all the difference when you're pulling the thread tight. |

I tried the video method, it didn't work for me. Lifting the clip from that angle the screwdriver would hang up between the clip and the bracket the clip goes over, increasing the force that it took to pull the bag. Working through the slits on the wheel is a PITA as well, as you can't see the clip. I used a combination of the two. I pulled the cowling pieces to get a view of the wheel from behind, then inserted a long #20 torx screwdriver through the slit to move the clip. That way I could see the clip being moved far enough to release the bag. You need to use a torx screwdriver, because it's thin and has no large head. You'll see why when you get the bag off. Inside the wheel there's a narrow guide channel molded into it from the slit to the clip, too narrow for the average diameter screwdriver shaft to fit into.

I don't have that wheel, so I can't say for sure. With my Sport wheel I removed that trim piece before wrapping the wheel so the cover went into the space between the wheel and the trim.

Mewant suede steering cover - on F25 X3 msport
Not sure how everyone else has had such great success. I ordered my Mewant brand wheel cover from ebay and its not nearly wide enough to cover my thick steering wheel in my 2015 X3 msport - i've got over a 1/4" gap and i don't see tight thread being able to stretch that gap. I'd be eager to hear back from anyone that had a misfit like mine and solved it with a DIY fix or another brand/style? I bought the all suede model with the msport tricolor stripes. It appears to be synthetic like a cool neoprene aspect to it but matte enough in the finish to appear similar to suede. I have to be honest, the listing ad looks so compelling that i feel like i want to go back outside right now and try it again. No, the ad doesn't have my exact msport badged wheel but the proportions look spot on.

Does anyone think its possible that the m-sport steering wheel for the LCI F25 X3 is just slightly larger in circumference over the standard X3 steering wheel?Sorry i have no experience with BMW or the X3 prior to my recent purchase of this 2015 X3 msport. If anyone knows of anyone who has successfully wrapped an X3 Msport style steering wheel i'd appreciate having your experience or input.

When in doubt go to the BMW Parts Catalog. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/select
When you look up a part it will tell you all of the models it was used in. You'll find the X3 steering wheel was only used in X3,4,5 and 6. |

Can you explain how you removed the trim? Did you have to remove the airbag?

Yes. The trim is friction fit, with tangs that go into the rubber part of the wheel. It may be possible to pry it off with the airbag in place, but I wouldn't try it. As long as you've got the airbag off do yourself a solid and remove the wheel, it's a lot easier to work on it out of the car.

What's the best way to stitch red and blue? Start on opposite sides in each color?

So does anyone know if this affects the heated steering at all? Also has anyone taken the cover off after a few years? Is the glue hard to remove from tape? Thanks!
