I purchased a M5 shifter.

Just referring to the X5M meaning that the shifter can probably be coded and still work on a non DTC transmission.

Don't transmissions fall under the CAS/EWS umbrellas now, too? Have fun paying for that part lol.

Another person says it’s not really a DCT shifter anyway. He just transplanted the F80 stick on a F30 Shift Assembly, which is probably what others have done. Of course positions would not be correct, but you got the look you want.

I think Kies Motorsport did this and ran into problems. Here is the youtube video... you can take it for what it's worth but I don't think, given the problem that he ran into, was worth the effort of installing one.

Does anyone know how to make the d/s light come up on the shifter when in drive ?

Got everything to work that's my last step when putting the shifter in drive no light comes on ?

Honestly I feel like the e6x SMG shift knob could be a better candidate…but getting that to fit would require custom hardware and mounts and wiring. But unsure if it’ll throw the weird error codes.

have you managed to get Sports/Manual mode to work?

i have tried this in a F36 today with a M2 Comp GWS.

I have managed to get Drive to function N and also Reverse with lights on all modes just no Sports/Manual mode function.

I have looked at all the possibilities including VO coding with OG M2 FA and still nothing, i can flash it so it reacts same as 2TB but where is the fun in that.

Anyone got any ideas? has opp got sports and manual mode to work?

I’m sure everyone found this out - but Kies Motorsports goes over the pros/cons. Basically it can work for a limited amount of time. If you buy the f80 assembly and removed the top half / you can retrofit the shifter head. His video is very in depth.
