I'm running BMW stage 2 E30 on my N20 - runs like a dream !

only issue I've had so far is low engine oil level warning (potentially false warning) pretty much 2 days after i topped it up to the max after the initial warning...

Firstly, sorry for the scrawl of thought below, it's hot and I'm tired

I'm running Stage 1 BM3 on a 2012 N55 535i. Looking to do Stage 2 soon after I install an intercooler and DP.

As for the tune - it's great....OEM levels of smoothness and great power delivery. As many say, it's the area under the curve, rather than absolute KW output that makes the biggest difference to daily driving, and that's where BM3 is great.

The process of installing the tune though....can be quite frustrating for some but not all. Unfortunately for me I seemed to have hit quite a few roadblocks before finally successfully flashing my car. Having said that, their support is awesome and you will never be left to figure out a fix by yourself.

Here are the issues I had with installation that were all fixed through a quick email to support/googling myself:
  • Engine ECU (DME) was not supported by the system and could therefore not connect...quick email to support and they sent me an updated file.
  • Although it was highly recommended to connect a battery charger during the initial unlock and flash, I didn't...which was dumb and the flash did not complete succesfully (I believe BM3 halts if it detects lower voltage than is required). The result was I wasn't able to start the car...so I took another car to Autobarn to buy a battery charger. Retried the flash and it worked.
  • Although the system flashed successfully, I was now getting permanent DTC malfuction, cruise control failure, and some other annoying, but not car crippling errors. An email to support quickly identified my car's 2012 software as too old, and all ECUs required an update. Support was great and happy to remote in to do it for me. I couldn't wait though, and through the use of a guide and my knowledge of BMW coding, I updated it myself. Then I reflashed the map, and since then all has been great since

TLDR: You may hit some bumps during the tune process but these are always easy to fix and you will be well supported by their team. Tune quality is great.

Been running Stage 1 98 since last month. Got it really cheap at US$450. Mine is also the L9 variant and ver 2.1 seems to be the latest.

Could you guys share your vehicle details so that we can compare software versions, please?

Sure mate, the ebay seller that I purchased it from was running 10% off for black Friday. I stacked it up with ebay's own 10% discount.

Hi All,

I’m running BM3 on N20 328i stage 2 98RON OTS tune with Wagner competition catted DP, aluminium charge pipes and Milltek catback.

Very happy. 12mo now nil issues. Only smiles for miles.

Adjusted cold start off and dialled down crackles/pops on BM3 to remain sleeper and to suit my own tastes.

Added sound deadening to boot floor etc so no drone. Nice bassy purr at idle and deep growl on hard upshifts in Sport+. Fun.

Very noticeable improvement in sound and performance over stock, which was pretty zippy to begin with (for a daily especially).

Sure,

Obtain:
1. Dynamat Xtreme 19405 Trunk Kit Sound Deadener
2. Car Sound Deadening Deadener Application Roller

Then:
3. YouTube ‘Dynamat trunk installation’.

It is applied to the boot floor to supplement the stock sound deadening, which looks similar but is limited in quantity. It’s basically a dense, sticky rubber sheet with a metal skin outer.

The stock sound deadening was adequate for stock exhaust but not otherwise.

As for choice of hardware, I think it was worth the extra. My hardware installer related to me examples (Focus RS etc) where he’s later taken out installs of non-catted hardware as their owners grew tired/outgrew the excessive noise.

For clarity, significant hardware upgrades as follows:

Exhaust:
Dual Outlet Resonated Cat Back
Brand: Milltek Sport
Mfg#: SSXBM961

Intercooler and Downpipe:
BMW F-Series N20 EVO2 Competition Catted Package
Product Code: 700001043

I sourced sound deadening items 1 & 2 from eBay.

Anyone had a 435i stage 1 or 2 bootmod tune done?

OTS tune seems ok but do they have them for 98 octane fuel? I'm also wondering whether it's worth going the custom route and tweaking on dyno vs doing road tune + datalogs... used to do this with my old Imprezas but always managed to get better tunes on the dyno followed by a road tune check.. thinking catted DP and Stage 1.

I'm also really interested in their transmission maps, torque limits removed from 3rd and 6th gear but increased speed and smoother shifts...could really liven it up.

Hey bud I'm running a stage one on my 430i F36 GC and loving it. I'm using the 93 Ron map and 98 ROn fuel with no problems. played around with the custom burble settings and I think I have the right setting for myself. Not to gun shotty currently just have a MPE on mine. Thinking of getting a CAI next and new Catted DP.
