Car tracking system

Hey People,

Just wondering, does anyone know if our cars come with a security tracking system or GPS tracking system? With all the recent sh$t on the news about car jacking It would be nice to track our cars in the event it gets stolen to inform the police so they can catch the thieves.

I know some people put aftermarket GPS trackers that look a bit complicated. Does anyone have any devices they can recommend?

Just use the connected drive and the BMW remote app. Turn on GPS tracking in iDrive setting.

+1 for this. Setup was relatively straight forward.

Can track where your car is from your mobile phone

I'm pretty certain the built-in tracking only works within a certain radius from your actual location. I recall reading this somewhere.

It does but I did read that you can code out the restriction.

Just read up on it... Apparently there is a 1,500 meter (1.5km) radius

I don't think I have a restriction on mine however. I've tracked it more than the claimed 1,500 meter (1.5km) radius.

Garage List
Also if you have an iPhone and IOS10, it will tell you where your car is with GPS location. Handy when you park your car at a shopping mall and come out looking for your car...

No, it is not that complicated. In my experience, you only need to consider whether you want anti-theft (hidden) or guide safe driving (non-hidden OBD). Before I made the decision to buy GPS, I found several such articles to compare in detail: the best car tracking system. They can help you make a decision!
