2013 BMW 335i Oil Spray

Hello guys, today i changed my oil filter ( i didnt crank it down to the recommended ft/pd torque) and i started my car, the car started shaking and it said drive train malfunction and i saw smoke coming out of my hood so i instantly turned off the car.

After opening the hood i saw that my whole engine bay was drenched in oil and also almost all of the oil in the car poured down under my car, what do you guys think happened?

My assumption is that one of the two lines behind the oil filter housing tore off and spilled everywhere, i havent checked tho. Any help?

PS. i made sure to change the gaskets and put the oil filter in the correct way, when the oil spill happened the cap was still in place perfectly tight.

There's no reason to think that changing the filter would cause lines to break. Cause and effect does say that something you did, or didn't do, was the problem.

Look at where the spray is most concentrated on the back of the hood and then search below that.

And I don't see how we can tell you what happened if you haven't looked for the source yourself yet. We have far less information available.
