Supra Test Drive

Demo car is in town at my local Toyota dealers end of this week and weekend.

I'll drop a few pics and thoughts here.

Anything you want to know about the car?

I've not yet driven a B58 car so should be interesting. I absolutely love the styling of this car, in a grey sensible modern world it's refreshing.

Current deals are dreadful, so it's not a likely car I'll be jumping into but still, it's great to research

Had a test drive booked via Toyota at a Kings Lynn dealer, apparently they give you 2 hours but accompanied and it is a Toyota car not the dealers. But ended up cancelling as was too busy on the day.

Circa £54K it seems just too excessive for a 2 door coupe, likely better cars for that money. Let's see how many BMW logos you can spot, there's a few under the bonnet and the switch gear, gear lever, sat nav etc is BMW, still impressive looking bodywork.

Let's hope it's not like when Mercedes & Chrysler had a go doing the SLK & the Crossfire

Garage List
Despite sharing its underpinnings with the Z4, according to the Toyota design and engineering team it's supposed to be a very different and supposedly un-BMW-like experience. Not sure how that works when you're looking at an iDrive screen and BMW switchgear, but I guess it's in the driving dynamics. Would be interested to know how well it rides as a daily driver on the more crappy roads you find in a lot of the UK as that's where I'd find myself 75-80% of the time.

I went for a look in the showroom tonight. Red version Pro Spec.

Initial impression.

WOW best looking car exterior I've seen this side of £100k for some time. The rear hips and duck spoiler are beautiful.

Thoughts on Saturday

Looking forward to the write up and pics. Thoughts on how it compares with your various M-cars.

Enjoy the test drive, Chris

I think I might cancel. I feel a fraud as at the current offer levels it's never going to fly.

£5k in £730 month for base 5k miles

Cars you eat for less and have 4 seats

- 840i Gran Coupe amazing interior and has a duck tail too

- M2C £4K and about £500 month. Not a nice looking, 4 seats for similar size and erred it's a BMW (ok so is the Toyota )

-X3M £549 + £549 I include only as it's a £80k M car and it costing less than a £52k Toyota

Maybe I should just go along for a ride.

Take the drive. 90% of the test drives will be test pilots - they know this and hope that some get tempted.

I feel no remorse for my Model X and Cayenne test drives - always outsiders based on ridiculous cost vs the competition I still have nightmares over cayenne monthlies if you want any kind of spec, despite great residuals!!

I just can't see past the X3M for that kind of money.

It's stunning value isn't it? Similar list to my D5 but thousands and thousands cheaper over the term, and I know what most (all?) on here would have

It's such a shame that the ride spoils it. For anyone that actually keeps their cars 4-5 years it still feels like a great opportunity to buy and then have someone like Birds fit superior suspension.

A full on M-car for that money is insane.

Thursday nights Fifth Gear was interesting with the shootout, the Z4 the supra is based on lost to the TT RS but got glowing praise and was actually the car they’d have.
