LOOKING FOR : someone experienced with wiring

I did an F82 M4 seat retrofit in my F30 a few months ago. While the driver seat works fine, the passenger locks out after a minute of connecting the battery back in the car.

I suspect it's a case of adjusting pins between the module box and seat harness.

Anyone know someone well versed in wiring?

Give us a bit more details. What's the production date of the car and if possible of the seats. Is it maybe possible to get the part number of the seat modules you're now using?

is it possible you have a pinched or damaged wire?

I've done all the homework already and have two module boxes I've tested.

The pin configuration between the seat and module boxes don't align, it's simply a matter of relocating pins.

My cars a 2013 luxury line
Seats came out of I believe a 2016 M4

I just need someone familiar with wiring and repinning.

Just curious, what pins aren't aligning? Because the diagrams tell me everything should. That is, if you're using what I'm guessing you are... What I do notice is that the F30 seats use K_CAN and the F82 seats use K_CAN2. So that's why I asked you for more specific information: What kind of seat modules are you trying to use? Are both old and new seats fully electric? With or without memory? Just give as much details as possible so we actually can help you.

P.s. sorry for the big pictures. I wanted to make sure they were readable.

Hey there thanks for the added help and feedback on this.

I've attached a photo of the SM box I'm currently running along with a photo of the M4 seat harness. I've got an SM2 box which I believe I had no choice on using. I had tried running my original passenger SM1 box (smaller black box) and I had zero power at all and all the SRS lights on. When I went to the SM2 box all the SRS lights corrected themselves and that where I started getting power but only within 60 second of plugging the battery. Something to not as well is although I have power for 60 second, the heated seat function doesn't work at all.

I also get the following code which I believe relates to the break in connection for the heated seat.

My existing seat was a very basic seat. It had heating and the up, down, forward and backwards functions and that's it.

Here's a photo of the harness, you can see it has very little pins, let along all the connection found on the SM2 box I'm using.

OK, first off: The Lin bus error is indeed due to the fact that you don't have the expected heating module since you're using the big seat module. The seat heating module gets its data via Lin-bus, the big SM via CAN. This is odd though since the pictures you posted don't show pin 8 (Lin) in the wiring harness...

This leads me to the next question. Did your driver seat by change always have a big SM? And does the seat heating work for that seat?

I'm beginning to suspect that it might not be a wiring problem but a coding problem since you also have the Lin-bus error. The only wires needed for the big SM is power/ground and CAN signal. The reason it functions for the 60seconds could be that it is getting power, but after the 60 seconds it notices that something is off and the SM is shutdown. But this is a assumption (And yes I know, assumption is the mother of all f#ck-ups)

So, can you connect to the passenger SM(BF)? If so, than your CAN connection should be good. If not, there is the possibility that your car is on CAN and the module wants CAN2 since the SM you're using is from 2014. (COULD be, I haven't taken the time to go check this out, just going by the info on the added screenshot)

Personally I would try to connect to the SMBF (E-sys or ISTA). If that works, I'd VO code the correct seat options and code all needed modules.

Sorry if I'm telling you stuff you already tried, but that's the curse of trouble shooting via a international forum
