Help- windscreen wiper pain!
Hi all
Ever since I've had my f36 the wipers have squeaked. It annoys the life out of me. l can hear it even in heavy rain with the radio on. So far I have tried- NEW Bosch and Valeo wipers Different screen wash Cleaned the glass with all manner of things including clay baring it. Inspected the arms- everything looks fine It doesn't do it with with screen wash continually being sprayed leading me to believe its the actually wiper blade, last thing to try is OEM blades but I read they are Valeo? Anyone any similar issues and hopefully found a fix?! Thanks in advance |

Valeo are I believe the same as BMW OE. I use them and have done for at least 4 years and no problems with a squeak.
It may be the wiper mechanism that makes the noise? When you spray water on the screen there is little resistance between the glass and the rubber so everything moves smoothly, when the glass is damp / dry ish there will be a resistance making the motor / linkage having to work harder in effect and causing the squeak? Also have you tried machine polishing the glass with a glass polish and checked that the wiper arms are not bent. |

I've had this before. It's usually the nearside wiper, on the 'up' stroke. The angle of the wiper arm was slightly out, meaning the wiper blade wasn't making contact with the screen at 90 degrees, therefore juddering slightly. If this is similar to your issue, it's just a case of 'twisting' the arm a little so correct the wiper blade angle. Trial & error until it's right.

This before and found best way to cure was to use a DA polisher and glass polish (GTechniq) take all the polish residue off with a clean cloth then I went over the screen in Gyeon Prep to make sure everything was off the screen.
