Make a dash cam all black

I've just fitted a Nextbase 522GW. Along the side in silver/ white writing it says 522GW which I would like to cover / make black so it isn't as conspicuous. I don't think a permanent marker will be enough, any suggestions?

Was thinking the same thing only a couple of weeks ago. The only option i can see other than using black tape is Plasidip which is a spray rubber.

Used a sharpie on my Black Vue for the same purpose.

Still on the camera after nearly 5 years.

Unless you’re going to regularly handle it or clean it shouldn’t come off soon. Even if it does not onerous to redo.

Must be a tape that you can use. Black duct tape from Walmart or Home Depot and use sharp scissors to cut it to size. Or maybe they have vinyl tape that's thinner. Michael's or other craft store. With patience should look good, like a car wrap.

Definitely a possibility. My only concern was that the BlackVue does get quite hot especially when you’re using the parking function 24/7. Others may not ge5 so hot.

Would worry about heat build up or the tape falling off.

Good point. I don't know what it looks like so I was picturing some trim that you were trying to turn black. If it's something larger you may be able to use actual black car wrap. They wrap hot car hoods with it and cars sit out in raging heat in summer so heat shouldn't effect it.

It’s nothing too big. The OP is trying to hide the manufacturers logo on a dash cam, to make it more discreet and less likely to attract unwanted attention. You’re probably looking at about 1cm by 0.5 cm or so.

I've used this on a dashcam and it goes on really well.Has a small brush attached to the lid.Takes about 24 hours to dry properly, but leaves a great finish.

Black BBQ paint or black nail varnish.
Both should stand up to the heat of a dash cam, the BBQ paint is good for 600'c, and if it's getting that hot you have bigger things to worry about

I managed to turn off all lights on my blackvue except the wifi symbol light on the side of the camera. It doubles as a sensor so not sure how to hide and still maintain functionality. Any ideas?

Thanks

Try the sharpie trick. It shouldn’t make a difference to the sensing ability.

If I remember it’s only on when you’ve got WiFi on. Usually it’s off I believe.

Personally I like a couple of lights on when it’s working , more to act as a deterrent to would be crash for cash vermin.

Just place it in the bin.

Dashcams are a nightmare, every bad driver has one and round here they seem to point out that they have one. Hate the things.
