The bearings actually look very good. The carbon build up is a little more than I thought would be there on a low mileage engine but not horrible.

Yep pistons are definitely taking the majority of the load. Thicker oil might help with that too so there isn't as much blowby going past the rings.

This is a great question... So we reached out to CP about this exact same thing and they said they actually use the stock bearings when they did testing. For now we are going to do the same and see how it holds up

I'll definitely bring that up with the team when we put it back together. Thanks for the insight!

So just an update for all those going to run the Big Boost Kit, you will need an aftermarket boost controller. Once we get the engine back in the car I will let you know which one we go with & do a little review on it

My recommendation is Cortex. It'll allow you to properly tune boost onset and taper.

Engine is 90% done the intake piping that was included in the kit was missing some port but Juan over at Big Boost over nighted the correct one & we should have it by Thursday.

Next step installing engine, then we will start the meth kit upgrades to AEM. Once that’s completed we will knock out the CSF Heat Exchanger & than go do a 600 mile road test to make sure the car adapts & responds correctly!

I regret not asking you to take pictures of the exhaust manifold ports earlier. If you have anything that shows them, please post up. I'm curious if the runners have any length to them like the OEM manifold, or if it's just a simple log style mani.

I can ask the shop to see if they got some pictures for you sadly all this was done last week while I was slammed at work so I never got to get a lot of the content for this post

Sent A PM About Original Pistons/Rods

Tyler,

I sent you a PM about the possibility of obtaining one of the stock Pistons/Rods from the B58 for use as a display piece. I'm a bit of an engine nut and would love to have this since I have the B58 in my '17 340i.

mike@x-ph.com so here is a quick review of the CSF Heat exchanger.

First glance it is wild the size difference & looks amazing against the car! The sad part is the plastic piece on the drivers side has to be cut in order to fit around the size of the new heat exchanger. The other sad part is the company themselves says use zip ties to hold up the coolant parts wrapped around the front portion of the car. I will be honest not 100% pleased with that response but hey what is a race car with out a zip tie, right?? Haven’t started the car yet but once we get it started I will write the review on the performance side next
