MPPSK Valve - Opening on throttle input

Hi BMWFam!

So I pulled back into the garage after a spirited drive session (2017 340i with MPPSK), and noticed that switching from comfort to sport wouldn't open the valves without a slight throttle input.

Now I am wondering if my mind is playing games on me, and that did they ever open without throttle input (I am pretty sure they did!).

Do they really open without any throttle input when switching from comfort to sport while idling? Any logic behind why they would open with/without throttle input?

I would appreciate the information

Mine does this, but it stays open once open. I start the car and immediately put it in sport. If I let it idle long enough (quicker if you just drove somewhere and the engine is already warm), I find the valves don't open until you press the pedal a little bit.

I believe mine is the same way. You can hear that change. After putting in sport mode there is initially no change in sound. Then press the gas and the beast is awoken. You can hear the growl.

The question is.. why were you coming home from a spirited drive in comfort?
