What do you carry when running non run flats?

To those of you who run 'non run flats'...
What equipment/kits do you carry in case of a puncture?
I'm changing to NRF's and I'm wondering what is the best gear to carry.
(I realise that a blow out or side wall damage will result in the need to be recovered).
TIA Chris

I carry a couple of cans of tyre weld, along with a compressor.

I know some carry the official (or equivalent) slime repair kit.

Both of these methods will ruin the TPMS sensor and make one hell of a mess inside the tyre and wheel when used. Neither is a permanent repair and are really just get you to a suitable garage type repairs.

My preferred method of repair (only applicable to screws/nails) is to use an externally applied self vulcanising repair. These are very cheap, quick and effective, although frowned upon in the U.K, but commonly used elsewhere in the world.

I currently have one of these repairs in each of my rear tyres (one applied at home and the other at 1am in a Tesco car park!). One repair has about 20,000 miles on it, the other about 4,000 miles with no loss of pressure.

I’ve got a Compressor and also a can of tyre weld as a very last resort, although in 30 years I’ve never had a puncture that you can’t drive at least a few miles on after blowing it back up.
Also as a back up I have the number of my local tyre place who have 24 hour emergency call out, so if I’m less than 50 miles from home that’s another option if it’s looking bad.

All fits into compartment in floor of trunk:

Slime "8-min" compressor kit. (Slime wipes right out and doesn't harm TPMS)

Scissor jack with rectangular piece on top that fits right into BMW jack point

Slime tire puncture fix kit

1/2" drive Breaker bar with 17mm long socket

Cheap mechanics gloves

Small piece of plywood to place under jack in case of sand or mud

Waterless hand cleaner

Cheaper plastic tarp

eBay, loads of 'em. I ran a tyre for about 10k repaired with one of these, As long as you do it properly it will last - it will certainly get you home. You will need an inflator too, of course.

Try eBay item 173992819037

Interesting read as i'm thinking of jumping ship to non RFTs...

Will they still assist once they see the tyres are non RFT / star mark recommended?

From what I've read on the forum BMW kick up when it's warranty related and try to find that excuse etc. Just wondered how they would react in a 'recovery' situation.

I always have a BMW mobility kit (compressor & slime) in the boot.

My puncture experiences non RFT & RFT

I went RFT to normal on the E91 but had a puncture on the motorway that the slime wouldn't fix due to tyre damage going from motorway speeds to getting across from the outside lane to hard shoulder (thank Christ it wasn't a "smart" motorway), so had to call the AA 150miles from home they recovered me to a services had to wait hours for a roadside tyre service to come and replace the tyre (the replacement eagle F1 cost the same price as 2 by the time they were done) then was back on our way. A horrible experience on a wet cold night that was very costly. The only difference with an RFT I would have saved of waiting 2hrs for the AA & then 2hrs for the police to enable recovery if and could have just driven on to the services & got things moving quicker in the tyre guys.

The F31 came with the woeful Bridgestone RFT due to xdrive I was going to go star marked RFT. Tread was about 3mm and was doing the last trip to our welsh holiday home on them when the inner sidewall failed luckily I was 35miles from where I was going at 11pm so after checking the car over I went on at 45-50mph with no issues rang BMW emergency services was recovered the next day and 4 F1 RFTs fitted and back on our way. Had a nightmare with the recovery see my post on it but end outcome was very beneficial.

I would never non RFT the F31 and like Wills2 says just use the BMW emergency services. There's no difference between the E91 non rft eagle F1s I had and the RFTs I now have on the F31 apart from the price difference but that is worth never having the puncture experience I had on the motorway that time. Also the advent of these non hard shouldered smart motorways your just asking for trouble, Safety is worth more than £

I've got non run-flats winter wheels so I carry a tyre repair kit (£6 from ebay) and decent tyre inflator in the boot. There's an LED torch there too and a pair of fine nosed plyers.

Might help, though I've not needed to use them.

I have found this thread quite helpful as i was wandering what my options where once i got rid of the run flats on the F32.

Curious whether anyone has experience with this

seems to work on the concept of the mushroom repairs without having to take the wheel off so seals the tyre from the inside and plugs the hole left by the screw looks like a slightly better option compared to the tyre strings

Not sure but when I've swapped from RFT summers to non RFT winters and done that at the dealership I'd be calling them if I had a blow out.

The hard shoulder on a motorway on dark rainy night isn't the place to be with your arse sticking out into lane one changing a tyre...No way Jose, did it once years ago, never again.

Looks a good idea. I'd rather repair the tyre if I can, instead of waiting for a couple of hours for roadside assistance.
I bought the ebay version of this kit - a basic kit - at a considerable saving. I've got a jack stored the boot and a torch.

Mines is also the cheap version, just linked to that as it came up in my quick search.
