Tinted license plates- do cops care?
This is for PA/NJ/NY cops.
Do they pull anyone over for tinted license plate covers? I'm from PA so I only have a rear plate. My car looks amazing with the dark license plate cover and PA cops don't seem to care. I go to NJ and NYC quite often though and I don't want a "fix it" ticket. Thoughts/experiences? |

I've been ticketed for it. Used to have a tinted cover on my front plate and a douchebag cop ticketed me. Not a big deal. Removed it, took a pic, and fought the ticket saying that there was nothing wrong with how my plates were displayed. Dismissed with no court fees.

Sure you could, but who wants to pay annually for the plates? Registration is expensive enough, I don't want to pay extra for different plates. Its $60 up front and then an extra $31.25 a year for assigned plates or $91.25 and 62.50/yr for personalized.

That might make sense. I got a no front plate ticket a few months back and I didn't see a "fix it" option like I used to years ago when I got similar tickets. I just decided to pay up anyway because I didn't feel like looking into this or going to the station. Good to know I didn't have any other option anyway, at least probably not, until confirmed.
