2016- good year for the 340i xdrive ?

Found a manual… anything I should look for?

Little worried about the wheels- all 4 were being refurbished… but all 4 were curbed…

2016 is technically the worst year 340 to get but it’s not siginificant enough to skip if you found the car you’re looking for. wheels being refurbished isn’t a big deal, those OEM wheels have a tendency to get peeling clear coat with age anyways

That was exactly it for the wheels.

Why is the 2016 a bad year? Curious if it’s things I can check on?

2016 is not a "bad" year. It was the first year for the B58 and historically later years' models tend to have fewer problems than the first year as the manufacturer figures out and fixes issues coming out of the early builds.

2016 idrive and headunit is biggest downgrade to me, significant bump to better spec unit with 2017 and 2018. but yeah it’s not a bad year, there are things like old style injectors as well, but that affects most 2017s as well.

No issues with my 2016 340 xdrive.

Mine is a manual as well.

Supposedly they will be stripped and the paint code will be applied with a clear coat.

I’m sure it’s not as good as factory but all 4 were scratched but not “bent”.

Do you find it feels modern? I could spring for an m340i xdrive at this point but the reason I want it is the manual.

In 2014 I ordered a 335i xdrive from the factory and convinced myself the auto would be faster. All these years later I realize how foolish that was. As I love manual. I’m correcting a wrong? Maybe?

I agree.

LCI did give us the b58. On my current x5 40 it’s perfect.

But on this 340 it looks like it will be fun. I shall find out

What color do you have? Was it an msport? Was there an advantage with msport on the f30? Besides esthetics?

you can get the bigger screen which looks like you have that, old style gauges are better. m sport gets you bigger brakes and lower suspension, though not sure if with x drive you get the softer suspension that's higher or that's not the case when it's msport. turn radius not as good with x drive. not too many issues with B58 even the first year though there is extended warranty for PCV diaphragm, fuel tank and maybe EVAP system. I had the PCV replaced by getting valve cover which was reimbursed and also got fuel tank under extended warranty.

That method would be better than what I got. Definitely costs more.

To confirm, xDrive does not have the lowered 704 M Sport suspension. It actually has a slightly raised suspension (compared to the standard non-sport suspension) and it is softer and less well controlled than the sport suspension.

No Msport on mine.

Even if the auto is “faster” who cares? I like to shift.

My 2016 xdrive just rolled 90k miles. Been tuned in some fashion since 50k and stage 2 93 MHD for the last 20k. I've put tires and brakes on it, that's it. No reason to worry about a 2016 if you find the one you want. My BIL has a 2020 and already broke a motor mount, so you can have issues at any year.

That’s really true. I think it comes down to the manual W/ AWD and the i6t. Had the m340x offered a manual I’d have one.

Finding a perfect F30 is a hard feat. Funny thing- went today to buy and still no wheels on the car!! Atleast they took the time to remove the old paint on the rims to properly refinish these 19’s. The anticipation is killing me.

If it was a need for speed it would be the m340i xdrive (I like the nose more than the m3).

This f30 was the last manual AWD car bmw sold in the US.

Never mind I found it. Didn’t expand far enough. Use this site to check for service history
