Turo... anyone tried it in the UK?

For those who aren't aware of Turo, it's like AirBnB for cars. Been around in the US for quite a few years now, and now seems there's quite a few cars available in the UK now.

Curious as to whether anyone has rented a car via Turo, or even rented theirs out?

My company 330e lease is up in a months time and I can buy it for a good price, so tempted to buy it and rent it out!

It’s not popular enough yet, plenty of cars around, very cheap and looks like available most days - not booked. So atm good for getting the car but not so much for renting yours out.

I can only imagine the car would get absolutely hammered.

Its a company car... how do you think it gets driven now?!

In all seriousness you can only thrash a hybrid so hard... auto box ensures folk can't over rev it, and it barely goes through tyres or brakes so the running costs are minimal.

Yes, I suspect that's the case. Probably makes more sense in a large city I think too. More folk who don't own their own car but would like to rent one occasionally.

not exactly cheap though from what I saw so cant really see the benefit over a normal car rental.

Its very popular in the states and my friend that lives in Phoenix uses it to rent muscle cars when I visit as it's cheaper than the rental car companies as the cars are generally older but still as much fun.

Reminds me of this. Seems like a lot of hassle.

My BiL tried this (or a very similar service) to try and get bookings for his VW California. Pretty much no takers. Seems to be a case of too much supply, not enough demand.
