Pop/bang/shake when start/stop turns the engine off?

So I know start/stop hasn't the greatest fan base so that aside...
Quite often when it turns the engine off I get an audible bang which seems to come from the exhaust and also the back end shudders slightly. Other times it turns off almost silently.
The shudder and bang is concerning me, is this normal or is there something wrong?
Replies saying turn off stop/start not welcome
It's a 2014 330d
Cheers!

How rude, looks like no one is welcome to this thread lol. To the question at hand, I got no idea what that could be at the back? Your exhaust valve closing? But it really wouldn't go "bang"
Maybe ur transfer case had enough of that start stop?

Team "no start/stop"

I'm not necessarily against the ASS, but I really don't see the need with a diesel. Unlike gasoline engines diesel engines operate at close to maximum thermal efficiency even when idling, so much less fuel is used than with a gasoline engine left running. Add in the higher stress on the battery and starter because of the far higher compression ratio of diesel and using ASS with diesel IMO isn't a worthwhile mechanism.

I'm actually a big fan of ASS!

As far as auto start-stop, I have it coded off.

Sorry, I have no real advice or suggestions on what it might be, just couldn't help myself.

If he wants to use it that's his preference and his business. If you don't that's your preference and your business. In this case your reply is downright rude, or didn't you bother to read where the OP said "Replies saying turn off stop/start not welcome" ?

Although I don't have a diesel, there is no bang, pop or shake with my start/stop. I'd guess something is wrong with your car.

The more I read about it, the less I'm convinced by it unfortunately. I've accepted I'm not going to be getting the mpg I thought I could, so I'll be going back to 'comfort' rather than eco pro and coding the ASS off.
That being said, since I bought the car less than 6 months ago the garage still have an obligation to repair any faults - if the ASS banging (sorry couldn't help it ) isn't normal I'll have it looked it.
Thanks for the replies
