"Coding" - what the hell is it?
Just pushed the button and ordered a 430D Gran - M-Sport. (As an aside, I got a 14.13% discount here in Germany).
As a result of my new purchase, I have joined this forum. One of the things that continually comes up is the use of the word "coding", be it in relation to the -, Bluetooth, today's weather etc etc Please can I ask what is actually meant by this term? What 'benefits' you can get from it; where you get it etc etc? I have tried reading some of the older threads but most are written as if it is something that "everyone already knows about". I must be slow on the uptake |

Ok coding at its most basic, is turning on 'options' within the vehicles internal operating System.
For example, you can display Tyre Pressures, however,,, you can also Code (enable) in the ability to show tyre temperatures. When you buy the car it's internal coded instructions are build defaults - for your build. Some can be turned on after delivery. |

It is a way of changing some of the default settings that the car comes with. And enabling some features such as enhanced Bluetooth. I think if someone could post a list of things that can be changed, this might help understand what you can change and what can be done. (I've never bothered so don't have a list!)

This is my sheet - there is a comprehensive alternative around somewhere.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/lsvbh403l8...oding.pdf?dl=0 It's safe, so long as your laptop works ok and you steer clear of the 'load defaults' option.
