The cure for brown sidewalls

Spray and wipe. Easy as that.

Good tip. Does it do anything for the wheels? I clean mine with Flash Brown Royal, doing the tires are the same time. I use it to clean the engine compartment too. https://www.flashautodetailproducts....-tire-cleaner/

I think it’s meant to be more of a spot treatment product for tar, grime, sap, etc., not a regular “use all over” kind of thing. It says it’s safe on clear coat but I wouldn’t apply liberally/regularly just given the price and strong chemical smell. Maybe if I were doing my annual wheel detail I’d spray some inside the barrels to get stubborn grime off. Probably good for an engine detail too. Definitely a good tool to have in your arsenal, just not something I’d use super frequently.

Any tire dressing does that, to be honest. The difference is only in how shiny or matt they leave the tire, their hydrophobic qualities and durability.

You should be able to achieve the same result with just gasoline too... never tried myself, but it has been recommended to me. Most tar removers are petrol-based, so, judging by the lack of any shine and coating, that's what yours is most likely too.

I personally use Autoglym Tyre dressing... It does the job and the finish is acceptable. Durability good.

I’ve used a variety of tire dressings over the years and all they’ve ever done is leave a gloss finish on my tires that gets slung all over my paint the next time I drive the car. Definitely didn’t have any cleaning properties either, tires were brown as ever.

I like the product I’m sharing because it requires 0 scrubbing or effort, just spray and wipe. It also evaporates very quickly and doesn’t leave a residue that gets everywhere.

I do mine using Flash Brown Royal and a Scotchbrite pad, they come out like new.

I've found this to last at least twice as long as other products, and it doesn't get on the paint. I let it dry overnight after applying it before driving. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...e?ie=UTF8&th=1

Nice. Yeah, letting it dry overnight is ideal but not always an option. Usually I just clean and skip the shine but I’ll check that out.

One of the advantages of working on-line from home is that my schedule is whatever I want it to be. That allows me to clean my wheels one day, wait a day until everything is totally dry before shining the tires, doing that just before garaging it for the night. I don't use the tire shine for looks alone, I figure it must offer some measure of UV protection.

To prevent flinging / gloss try a gel base tire shine. Apply with a foam applicator, let it dry and wipe off with a microfiber towel after this prevents it from flinging all over paint and continue to have some sort of shine on the tires. As far as brown sidewalls I typically just clean it with the same stuff I use to clean my wheels.

My fav remains Griot's Vinyl + Rubber dressing.

It's a natural look that doesn't look like a buy here pay here lot's best efforts with spray cans.

Can also be used on external rubber seals, textured plastic (e.g. cowling), etc.

Mild soap and water to wash the sidewalls, then apply Poorboy's World Bold n Bright Gel which is a water-based product. Amazing gloss, no slings.
