Map Update for 2014 F30
Hi there. I’m looking for advice on updating my nav map on my 2014 335i X with Connected Drive. It still has the original 2013-2 map installed (Road Map NORTH AMERICA Next 2013-2 NBT_B13185A) ... so it’s overdue.
I found lots of sellers online and eBay but no idea if these are reliable. Prices for an FSC code and map download range from $40-50 US depending on whether code is 1x or multiuse. Some eBay prices are even less. I haven’t checked on dealer prices but no doubt they are a lot more. Advice much appreciated. |

Grab the software and generate your own FSC code. All you need is your 1B file.

^ +1 I should have just generated my own but at the beginning I didn't want to mess things up so I just went to Bimmercoders.com and bought a lifetime code. It cost $50 USD right now and the coupon code I used still works. The code is 'BMW' and you get $5 off so only $45 USD for a lifetime code.

I wanted to confirm if I actually needed the code so I just searched "North America NBT 2018-1" and it was the first link(mind you there was multiple free download links that popped up), I downloaded and tried to update the map through idrive to see if I actually required the code and I confirmed that I did so I went ahead and bought the code. I did double check and the one provided by bimmercoders was the same as the one I initially searched and downloaded so I just used the one I had already downloaded onto USB. On a side note, if you want to try to generate your own code check out this link - http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1329605 @kretzu is a great guy and has spent his valuable time to help out the community, just ask and he'll send you a package! Thumbs up to him! |

Oh ya, kretzu's package has the map as well and he always keeps it up to date. If and when you need to update(now or in the future), just ask and I'm sure he'll be glad to PM you the package.

The 1b file is easy to generate. You copy something on to a USB stick and plug it into the USB slot in your glove compartment.

All the files should be in the root of the USB drive. Also, it might take a little bit for the pop up to appear.

Thanks, but I found the issue. My Mac would duplicate the files and keep them hidden. Only way I found this is by plugging my USB key in a windows laptop, I was able to delete these hidden files. Following that, I plugged the USB key to my car, waited a little and the update popped up 👍. Update is done and running.
