Lol, and the kicker is, I actually have a catless downpipe, and it's listed in my signature.

That phrasing could explain why after-market "OEM-equivalent" DPs are fine, but after-market performance DPs aren't so easily justifiable.. magnuson-moss means that aftermarket companies can't be locked out of providing parts, but the emissions regulations require you not touch the OEM parts if they're working, and also require that you not degrade the performance of the system when servicing it... I do wonder how many of those aftermarket 'OEM-quality' catalysts are actually just as good as the original?

I was reading this post and just had a couple of questions for those that have tuned their cars:

1. If you already have MPPSK, and not tick the "burble" mode, will it not burble like how the MPPSK burbles and pops anymore?

2. Anyone have a clip of the cold start delete on an MPPSK car? Is it noticeably quieter? (Neighbours are starting to hate me)

3. Aside from the power gains, is the throttle response improved?

Thanks!

I can only comment on 3 in that I don't have MPPSK - answer is yes

Finally got my tune from Alex who remotely was able to login in and flash it.

Initial experience: holy moly guacamole. The car is silky smooth without any jerkiness. I drove just a bit yesterday hoping to get more time going forward. Exciting!

Alex was really apologetic and explained the whole situation of his shop moving. He was really friendly and had a approachable stance to ask any all questions.

With that, I did acknowledge that a lot of people are looking for him on the forums and he should visit and he will soon.

Overall, I understand from a B2B perspective the hassle of a move and he's working towards being more active here again!

Alex, thanks again! I look forward to stage 2 now once the supporting mods are in play!

Actually, that brings to mind some questions I have:
  1. Can an engine tune change the throttle mapping, so that it isn't different between comfort/sport/etc? (I'd love that)
  2. Can an engine tune change when the downshift rev matching is active? I would love to just be able to choose if it's active or not, without it being tied to ESC off. (Specifically, since the only time downshift rev matching is NOT active is ESC off, I never get a chance to practice it in this car... so when I do want ESC off, I am not used to having to blip the throttle myself.)

I have the same exact questions - also a MPPSK owner.

Coming from a X3 M40i, which is essentially a mppsk, the burbles will not change...but you can turn on the burbles on a non-mppsk car upon request. Yes, throttle response is somewhat improved but the bmw "overboost" on mppsk cars is turned off so that the power curve is more linear and smooth. The result is a bit less torque violence on kick down but a much smoother delivery with much more sustained top end power and peak power.

X3 M40i has a non-resonated exhaust with full muffler bypass in sport mode? If not, it's not really an apples-to-apples comparison when talking about the sound/burbles..

I would also like to know if the throttle mapping can be the same in comfort/sport. The lag when turning left in comfort mode or going from a stand still is getting annoying!

The x3 m40i has a full mppsk application which includes an M Performance exhaust...it is fairly loud!

Why go with sketchy ebay when amazon has similar prices?

Take alook and see if the muffler is bypassed by a valve..

MPPSK bypasses the muffler when your in Sport - with no resonator its pretty much an open exhaust

Yup. I've also coded off ASD and Butterfly valve open...It's relatively quiet but in Sport the exhaust is so much louder.

Curious, how long did it take for initial contact from MissionPerformance after purchasing?

I could vary...they are a bit back-logged and moving to a new facility.
