Pointless thread.
Parking is first come first served, as long as they park correctly between the lines.

This is selfish, woke up this morning to this car parked right in front of our front door blocking almost the entire pavement and in the only space in front of our house where my mum needed to park this morning because she's looking after our daughter today!

Indeed - parking on the pavement and preventing pushchairs and wheelchairs getting past is a no no but you cant stop people parking on a public road. Put some hardstanding on the front and a dropped kerb and off you go, your Mum will have parking....

Legally yes, but that doesn’t mean it’s not selfish or inconsiderate! Just because something isn’t illegal it isn’t necessarily ok to do it, for example it’s not illegal for married people to cheat on their spouse, but that doesn’t mean it’s ok to do it!

The whole bit is parking on the kerb. Really really pisses me off. Sure sometimes put a wheel up to give a bit more space in the road but parking like that is a big no no.

Prick used to park a van and leave it for ages on a road near us until it was taken away on the back of a lorry and it meant that you couldnt get a pushchair between the wall and the car.

People got sick and tired of it but because it was on Polish plates and it moved occasionally no one would do anything about it. Gradually the car had huge dents in the side pannels and its wing mirrors were torn off.

Some people are just assholes

Ah, so someone parking on the road outside your house is same as adultery. Got it.

I'd say if every house has a drive and parking is at a premium (did you mention the one available space...?) then its fair game. If they did it because they didnt use their drive or had more cars than spaces and so do it all the time, then that is inconsiderate...

Oh dear, I guess you're "one of them", it really is a shame that decent British people have to share the country with the likes of you.

Another ‘adulterer’.

And also parking on a curb which obstructs pedestrians is, illegal or not, socially unacceptable.

What you mean one of them who thinks I dont have a right to everything and anything? I always think of others - had a nice 2 car hard standing built at my new place so our cars arent parked in anyone else's way and they can then do what they need to do.

Yep, thoughtful - I am one of them. Maybe you should try it instead of thinking the world owes you something!

Why did you go to all the expense and bother of building a hard standing on your property if it fine to park on the pavement and block pushchairs/wheelchairs etc.? :

We have a similar parking issue not far from us , outside a nursery off all places.

People park right up on the pavement then walk to the station and get the train to work , park 50m further up the road and there is no inconvenience to anyone but that extra 50 steps must just be too much for them.

https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@55.84...7i13312!8i6656

On a normal weekday there are cars parked on both sides blocking the entire pavements right up to the bend in the road.

He didn't say it was. It seemed that your point was more, or equally, about it being outside your house rather than purely about the blocking pushchairs etc. I saw the response as addressing the former as opposed to supporting the latter.

Well it was about both, and seeing as the entire rest of the street was empty, they could have parked outside whichever property they were visiting!

PS. sahajesh there must be bigger fish to fry. I can recommend someone for you to PM

Think the Audi guy is just playing first come first served. He'd probably understeer into the wall in the other space.

I'm glad this thread has garnered so much interest - there was talk of the OT forum being boring, not so long ago
