Is anyone using Next Europe West 2024-1 and find it rubbish? I just spent 45 minutes or more driving around to get it installed, the headunit restarted and told me the update was successful. But then I drove back home and once I was off the M1 at junction 24 (I'm in the UK) the roads pretty much disappeared and the programmed route back home was aborted. There are pretty much zero roads displayed within about 5-8 miles of my home.

Is anyone else using this map and found that the coverage is far worse than previous versions?

Can the map version be downgraded?

always! just get an older version and install it like any other ! it will overwrite your current one ! no FSC code is needed for downgrade !

Sounds good - I still have the USB drive with an older version on it which I know was working (if out of date) so I guess I'll throw that back on for now because 2024-01 is basically useless where I live. Thanks!

edit - or, since I just realised I mistakenly installed Europe East instead of West, I could try installing the correct maps for where I live. I expect it'll be much more useful after that...another long drive it is!

most probable this is your issue. just install West over East and will be good !

no need to drive, map can be installed while stanstill

you have an ID5 EVO from ASIA region that needs to be converted to ECE region before you can install the Europe map. Since your SW Level is low ( F010-16-03-502 that is bellow 18-03) it means that you need also a SW update if you want to have the carplay in full screen.


yes, procedure is little bit different than the one when the car is on the same region ( ASIA vs ECE).

result is the same: unit patched for lifetime map activation ( Europe in this case), Carplay activation( full screen only with SW update), Video In Motion, BMW Apps

Yeah, worked perfectly - I wasn't sure whether the headunit would pick up the "downgrade" (i.e. going from 2024 to 2024 but a different region) and thought I might have screwed things up in order to need a dealer to flash it. But it was all fine. As a bonus, I think West actually installed quicker than East, I drove around instead of having to sit in the car on the driveway annoying my neighbours and I'm 99% sure it wasn't as long.

I'd like to upgrade its map to North America Premium 2024. I downloaded the 1b.hex but I do not have an FSC generator and 2024 map.

2024 doesn t exist. as for the generator, you can find for FREE on CT forum, there are multiple threads where generator is offered for FREE with instructions.
