VDC unit not responding

Hi All

So I recently had battery disconnected to do some work, when I reconnected it I got “chassis function restricted” and the car is stuck in comfort mode,

I checked error code on bimmerlink and I get “vertical dynamics management control unit does not respond”

Not checked on Esys as i don’t have laptop with me but does it sound like VDC has died? Or does anyone know anything I can try

Cheers

Have you tried clearing fault code? Sometimes this may happen when module loses power. Clearing fault code is first option to try.
I doubt the module died, it may need coding since it may have reset due to power loss during battery disconnection.
What do you mean by stuck in comfort mode?

Hi,

Yes tried clearing code but it doesn’t clear,

By “comfort mode” I mean driving mode, I.E sport, comfort, eco pro.

What would actually need coding if that is the issue?

For coding you need laptop, Ethernet to OBDII cable and Esys.
Have you checked the fuses it might be blown out fuse?

Hi yes, checked fuses, they are all ok,

Re coding, I mean what would actually need coding on the module? I wouldn’t have thought it would lose memory just because battery was disconnected,

The battery is also in good condition and kept on a maintainer when car is not used for any length of time, and I don’t get any low voltage warnings so doubt it is a low voltage issue

You would be coding the whole module. Its VO coding. VO Code = Coding of all FDL's (100% of the ECU) to predetermined settings based on the Vehicle Order.

If the module is receiving power then the issue will be software related. There might be corrupt files or missing causing this issue. Using Esys you can check the ECU and see in the listed file if any contains FFFFF or is missing cafd file.

Using tool32
ZGW_01.prg
steuern_flexray_pfad ==>F5
steuern_reset_learn_flexray==>F5

This should reset flexray configuration. If it still doesnt appear then the VDC isnt responding. PM me i can help you remotely using ENET cable.
