Idrive 5.0 coding

Well I can confirm this works. Just made some small changes to my new car. Had to get the latest software from Shawn but once that was installed it went without issue. Just changed a couple of things, USB video and the codecs, plus fog light welcome etc.

I have pro nav, does anyone know if there is an advantage to coding enhanced Bluetooth for me? I didn't spec it, but I can already stream Bluetooth so don't really know if it's worth bothering??

I've never coded VO and would be sure how to do it in any case....

I also haven't got Enhanced BT as part of the cars spec but can stream BT audio as long as it is selected instead of USB audio.
You have to manually select between the two methods.
Weird, would also like to know what Enhanced BT actually gives you.

Office functionality to allow email syncing without going via connected drive.

As above its the office functionality and more BT connected devices (eg 2 phones connected instead of 1). Coded it today on my 140 was no harder than coding other non vo stuff!

Also as the guides I've found on the coding forum all seem a bit old now do they still work with the latest updates?

no idea,re CarPlay, think it may be unlikely. It's not the best thing anyway, we have it on our Octavia....

I used guides on my bus nav 140 that I used 18months ago on my 330d and still worked fine

I have now used apple CarPlay in a number of rental cars and would say it is good for occasional easy connections (like in rental cars or for your passengers etc) but, for a primary phone/iPod, the idrive controls are more integrated to the car...

Also, enhanced BT gives you the prep to install phone-specific cradles in the armrest, if that's how you like to connect/secure the phone... Personally, I like using a cradle... More secure/integrated.

Ok, so I have my cable and my MacBook setup with windows and esys and have managed to read the VO and SVT.

Now can I check to enable enhanced Bluetooth I change 6nh to 6ns and write it? Or am I better to go through all the individual options in SVT and enabling things?

Any other quick easy things to enable?

Sorry to ask but I've been through the coding forum and a lot of the data is older or contradictory.

I'd be interested to know if anyone successfully coded CarPlay.

Anyone got surround view with idrive 5.0? My car keeps defaulting to rear view camera not surround view when you put it in reverse!

Any ideas?

I have idrive 5 and surround view and I was told by the sales team that surround view only works going forward or stationary.

I'm not sure if you will be able to code CarPlay like EBT. Probably need a FSC code or something.

Yeah, that's how it seems to work now.. default views seem to be surround view when you press the park assist button, rear view when selecting reverse... you can still manually switch as before...

There is also the obstacle mapping, now...

Is the iDrive 5 coding any different from previous versions of iDrive? I ordered a cable and i'm looking to start coding my 330e soon.

I don't know anything about coding the car yourself.... But, yes, the default behaviour on surround view has changed in version 5.0....

No, seems to code in the exact same way as my 2013 model did.
