Try to get someone to ride with you the first couple of runs. To start with it is more important to find the course than to go fast. Once you know your way around the course you can start trying to go faster. The best thing I was ever told was to "go slow in the slow places and fast in the fast places". If you try to go fast through the turns, you usually push and end up going slower. I'll stop there because you don't want a bunch of stuff to be thinking about while on the course. Just start with the basics and above all else have FUN!

Nothing in the trunk, car mats out. Take a chair, cold drinks etc. Relax & don't over drive it. Try to get better times each run you get. Its all about you don't worry about what anyone else is doing.

Walk the course multiple times. Listen to your instructor. Learn from your mistakes.
Look ahead to see how you want to get in and out of turns before they come. Drive the car hard don't be afraid to hit a few cones.

I'm a member here! I can't make it this month, busy every weekend then leaving country for a bit, but I'd help you out if I bump into you. The instructors (yellow shirts) usually willing to ride with you, they might even take the drivers seat if you let them and do one run, show you technique and then switch out. Just ask ask ask for tips man. Great group of people for the most part. Good job on deciding to drive your machine right.

Decrease your tire pressure a few pounds and check your side walls after each run for excessive wear. F cars have practically zero camber up front and it makes it very easy to trash the tires on an auto X course. If you have run flats, be even more cautious.
