Tire Fitment 328i X Drive 19x8.5 and 19x9

All,

I have been doing TONS of research to get the best tire fitment but have found that we need to be extra careful with Xdrive systems to ensure they are very similar in circumference/diameter.

What do you recommend for 19x8.5 offset 33 and 19x9 offset 37? Using the tire calculator the closest seems to be:

19x8.5 = 235/40/19
19x9.0 = 265/35/19

Is this close enough at a .4% difference or do I need to go with a square setup to ensure they are perfect?

Is this offset acceptable, I DO NOT want it to 'poke' out!

Would appreciate your input as the variables with offsets, widths, height is maddening!!!

Thank you in advance!!!!!

Fred

for 8.5/9.0 on xdrive you can run,

225/40(26.1), 255/35(26.0), 0.4%, oem tire set up for bmw staggered, front is a bit stretched on 8.5

235/40(26.4),265/35(26.3), 0.4%, many run this size on x-drive, limited tire selection, this is what i'd do for your x-drive

245/35(25.8), 255/35(26.0), 0.8%, best tire to width fitment, increased front grip reduces understeer while maintaining turn in response

255/35 square, front is slight oversize on 8.5" and optimum tire width for 9" rear. odd to the trained eye, most wouldn't see the difference

245/35 square, front optimum tire width for 8.5, slight stretch on 9" rear, again odd to the untrained eye, most won't know

245/40(26.7) square, same as 245/35 but a profile size taller. reduces wheel gap provides better ride and impact. personally i dont care for the tall beefy look and your N20 engine will feel like a slug and your car will feel less sharp with taller heavier tires.

if you do choose 235/40, 265/35 it will look like thx@wdeerfield except your rear wheel will be poking out 8mm more since his offset is +45 and yours is +37.

Thank you for showing that link to me!

Do you think mine will still poke a bit if the rear wheels are 9.0 vs. his 9.5 or should that eliminate that extra bump out? Because I don't want them outside the fender.

you will not be poking at all. you will only extend 2mm more than where my rear wheels sit. I just have more tire/rim inside due to the half inch wider rim.

id recommend 235/265 all day. It is comfortable and looks great even not lowered.

it's still going to poke. the tire shoulder and sidewall will be the same place but the rim edge will be 1/4" inside the sidewall with a 265 on a 9". since +37 is 8mm further out than +45, your outer tire shoulder and sidewall will be 8mm further out than his. if you don't want to poke you will need higher offset in the rear

if you run 245/255. the slightly stretched rear will have the shoulder 5mm further in than where the 265 shoulder is. the rim edge will still be at the same place, though

It'll fit. Minor poke at rear 1/8-1/4" at top shoulder.

et45 on a 9.5 != et45 on a 9.

his wheels are 9inches wide at et37 so the face of the wheel will only be 2mm further out from mine. he wont poke at all.

I agree the wheel face is 2mm further out, but 265 is 10mm oversize(slight bulge) on 9" so the sidewall and shoulder will be an additional 5mm further out than the face. It's like taking your 9.5 +45 wheel, adding a 8mm spacer but reducing the width 1/4" each side to make it 9" wide. The tire shoulder and sidewall for both would be at the same place but beads squeezed in 1/4" each side to 9". Since your tires look flush I think his tires would peek out. Damn, I'm confusing myself idk if this makes sense or not.

Additional info. Tire section and tread widths vary for same sized tires of different brands and models but my calcs are based as if all tires are equal

i get what you are saying. if he goes with the mps4s he will appear to be more bulged than mine since its on a more narrow rim. It will give him more rim protection as well since it will be slightly ballooned on his rims.
