The moon tonight

Was on my way home from the shops when I noticed the moon - looked bigger and clearer than I ever remember in London so grabbed my 200mm lens and got some snaps (combined with separate shot of stars)

Now I'm tempted to get a 2x extender to see how much detail I can get

Cracking shot! Which lens do you have winther? I have an old nikon 80-200 which does a constant f2.8 so nice and bright - it's also built like a tank!

I have a 2x extender and although it works well, I did have to use a tripod for longer exposures.

Bloody brilliant shot.

Now you can't say that and not do it, so take your best shot with the extender and show us!

Using a canon 70-200 f/2.8 on a Sony A9 (with sigma MC-11 adapter).
Did this one handheld as the shutter was relatively high to avoid overexposure.
Also, it's amazing how quickly the moon moves in the frame once you follow it.
I suspect a long exposure will give a blurry result

Correct! I have a telescope with a 1000mm focal length and you can see the moon move in the frame quite quickly!

It was brilliant on the drive home earlier, saw the moon in front of me and the sun setting behind me. Great shot Winther.
