How much did you pay? Any warranty?

Any special cleaning or just treat like paint?

Sorry, my 2 cents.
I agree. I tried using CF wrap and when there's direct sunlight it looks nice, but otherwise you can tell it's not real.

$300 even, 5 year warranty. I clean it with Griot's spray wax after a wash. Been great so far.

Personally, I would never put CF wrap on the interior, but I do like the look of real CF, which I have:

So if someone wanted to emulate that look, and the interior CF parts are purely cosmetic anyway, then I can't really blame them too much for the same vanity I suffer from for real CF. So long as it looks good.

Did mine myself about a year ago. $50-60 for 3M gloss black from a local wrap shop, a few tools off amazon (blades & squeegees), and a few hours in my garage. Wrapping the shark fin was a PITA, and it's got a few fingers, but you can't tell unless you get really close. Definitely agree with others to do the rails. It keeps the proportions looking right.

I might be biased by my profession (engineer), but when I see CF, I assume and look for strength and/or weight-reduction requirements. And when I don't find any, it just looks "cheesy" and unsuitable in my eyes. Real is always better than fake of course.
Almost exploded when I saw an air-intake made of CF - 0 reason for that material and 0 visibility, as under the hood. Solely for people without a clue but with money to spend.

Those are nice numbers especially if he is using quality product. I wish I was closer!

Do it and post a pic after

I get what you're saying, but have you seen the Dinan CF air intakes for the F10 M5? Absolutely gorgeous! Price aside of course...

Had mine done last week and love it!!! Paid a little extra to have them do the rails because to me it just didn't look right without it lining up with the windshield and rear window.
I paid $200 total ...was only $150 originally on Memorial Day special, but I had no problem paying the extra money to have it look proper.

Those guys probably told you that so they wouldn't have to do them .... a good shop will wrap them to last and stand behind anything they wrap. I'd take it back and see what they can do for you personally.

Also, I didn't have them wrap the roof molding because my guys told me it wouldn't come out clean and would eventually start peeling. I'm going to swap for black molding.

Looks great with the gloss!

I got my roof wrapped last summer. I paid around 350 CAD. Im located in Montreal. It was a bit of an impulse decision, and I was not too happy with the results, but its okay. They removed the shark fin and the side rails and wrapped it separately.

The biggest issue was that when they re-attached the shark fin, they didn't do a great job with the 3M adhesive, so water leaked into the car when it rained. Luckily this is a common issue, and I had done enough research on this so I was looking out for it. I removed the fin, and re-did the tape job myself so no more water leak!

If I had the chance to do this again, I would leave the shark fin on, unwrapped, and order the CF overlay piece. This way you can keep the original adhesive, and get a nice CF add on
Carbon Fiber Sharkfin overlay:

I also think if you aren't wrapping the shark fin, this job can be an easy DIY.

I've heard of instances that the carbon fiber shark fin cover can affect radio/GPS signals. Just a heads up.

The guy who wrapped my roof was able to wrap the fin without removing it, did a great job, been over a year now. I also have a CF overlay in case I need it, I did have it on for a while but I didn't use the tape properly so I felt it wasn't sitting all snug, just me being OCD I also had him tint my tail lights and all reflectors, looks great in my opinion, I love it so far.

I'm wishing I did a gloss black on my roof. I had a matte black on my last car and did a carbon fiber wrap this time. It was hard figuring out what to do on the F33 roof but I came up with a compromise on where to wrap it.

Haha I feel you man! When it comes to my car I become extremely OCD haha I'm sure most people in this forum share that trait lol.

Kudos to your wrap shop for doing it without taking the fin off. I heard so many bad things about the wrap shop I went to after I got the work done, but their reviews on google were good. Can't trust anything these days.

Why didn't you get those side rail trims wrapped too? It lines up with the mirror and looks great. The guy who wrapped mine removed them, has been more than a year, no issues at all. Just make sure he knows what he is doing.

I just wax it often, haven't done anything special to protect it.

Surprised to hear so many paid to have it wrapped. Aside from the shark fin, it's relatively simple to wrap yourself for $50.
