Wheel color recommendations?

Riding around in a midnight blue metallic GT and want some new wheels. Mine have some curb rash and want to either repair them and powder coat them or grab some new/used wheels.

Any suggestions?

Never really liked dark color wheels on an already dark car... the lack of contrast kills it for me. May want to find something in 'machined silver' or even gold/copper if you're feeling adventurous

I'll be on the same boat as you soon as I have a Mineral Gray Metallic car and not sure which wheels will be worth spending money on, going from the stock 400Ms.

Thanks man I appreciate it. Was never a fan of silver wheels but I think the contrast on the car looks decent. Initially leaning towards bronze so thanks for some reaffirmation!

If you have a good powder coating shop in mind, stop by them and look over their samples. There are literally hundreds of colors to choose from.
I picked a gun metal grey for my winter wheels on my white GT. It took a while till I found the right tint to that line of color.

Love the midnight blue, the best option I could find was mineral grey. I did have the 400m powdercoated to a matte/satin black which I'm happy with. The powdercoating shop will have enough samples with so little variation that you'll feel like you're at Sherwin Williams. And same as the paint store, you have the color option and also the sheen option (flat to high gloss).

I have been kicking around doing the winter wheels in a bronze/copper type finish before they go back on in the fall, and would love to see how they look on the GT, so please share if anyone has that done.

Wheel colors are as deeply personal as the wheels themselves. Just get whatever color you feel best represents you. Then just enjoy the ride! Your perspective is the only one that counts. Oh ... pictures please after the installation. I will try to be the first one to appreciate your decision.

I appreciate the responses. It didn’t even occur to me to check out the shop in person and look at the color wheel first.

You’re spot on bout that. Although, I know at EOD it’s my prerogative, I do appreciate the 2¢.

☝️. I might be biased as I just put gunmetal on my dark car! But, I was going for subtle, not bling.
Food for thought, on our S60R we took the stock R wheels and had them PVD coated in "dark chrome". That color came out really nice in on black car since they were chrome for. A bit of flash but still not crazy bright, and hid brake dust very well.
I'm hoping the gunmetal will allow me more than two days before feeling like I need to clean my wheels, even with aftermarket pads....

gunmetal is awesome. gives a heavy chunky look to the wheels that oem chrome just cannot.

I had the OEM Gunmetal on my S60R and they were great for hiding the brake dust. The stock bright wheels, not so much.
Now with my GT I have GM for the winter.
